Michael Cole actually did a good job heeling it up on Lawler last RAW (minus the tasteless references to his mother). I actually wanted to see King lay him out towards the end of that 'interview'.
...
He still sucks wind on commentary though.

After he pointed up when talking about his mother, I was expecting him to say "Oh wait, she's not up there!"

It was a good heel promo, mother comment included (if Lawler's fine with it, I'm fine with it).
He is a very good heel. But he's NOT a good heel commentator. Take him out of the commentary booth, and stick him with Miz.

I enjoyed the segment. He'd make a great manager.
The problem with his heel commentary is that he seems to try to get too much attention on himself at times. (Like when R-Truth said the wrong town and Cole wouldn't shut up about it)
I'm fine with him calling out on faces been dicks and rooting for heels, it's when he distracts from the show and doesn't shut up shouting and interrupting guests on commentary when he gets on my nerves.
He'd make a great manager though.

Goddamn, Cole is insanely good on the mic. He just goes too far on commentary.

This is wrestling. Sure, I don't agree with things like the Katie Vick angle, because it was pointless and awkward... In this situation, not only did King certainly give consent beforehand, but it furthered the storyline in a major way.

It was a brilliant segment and the mother comment added so much to it. I'm one of Cole's biggest fans and I want Jerry to kick his arse at Mania after that.

Hey, he did reiterate "no disrespect." Cole's a standup guy!
But for real... Cole has become one of the best heels on the mic right now. The only shame is that he has to be behind the announcer's desk trying to bounce around between heeling it up, getting himself over, and then occasionally trying to be serious about promoting things and "doing his job." That's what makes his current character annoying as all hell. Stuff like his involvement with Miz's "Christmas Carol" segment was awesome. He should be doing more of that.

It was a great segment. Both guys actually made me want to see this match. Two commentators in a match. At Wrestlemania. So, take that for what its worth.

Cole's great man. That was one hell of a segment, and he made it.
I think Cole is becoming the new Mr. McMahon.

Almost as marked is the advance of Josh Matthews. We knew he was a great foil for Cole on NXT3 but little things he does when Cole goes off on a rant help - at EC he was just sat there looking despondent and if he wanted the ground to open up underneath him while Cole was going on about Miz

I would never have thought it but I am actually interested in this angle. I've never been a fan of King but on Raw I was actually cheering for him when he grabbed Cole by the shirt and threatened him.

No, claiming that one's not being okay with a personal insult in a wrestling angle should trump the fact that all parties involved were okay with it makes one some kind of PC thug.

Where did the OP say it shouldn't have happened? He just said it was tasteless. Not everyone likes cheap dead mom insults, whether they're okay'd or not.
