I tried killing one of the Greybeards for the cool Robes they wear, promptly got horribly killed as they are rather powerful. So if I can't kill one the normal way I decided to try from that tower in the courtyard as I figured that if I knock one of them off he will fall to his death. A: He didn't die, survived the fall B; He encased me in Ice C: He knocked me off the cliff instead D: Hilarious glitch as I spazm-fly/fall around the area encased in Ice seemingly unable to die for about 5 minutes. That was one of the funny glitch videos from IGN. Did you submit that? Or I'm guessing this happens to everyone who takes them on. Ibought a house this morning. Gonna have to talk to the interior designer, as they thought it appropriate to install a large fire pit in the living room, about 2 feet away from a bail of hay and two book shelf's stocked with priceless antique books & treasure maps.

Sounds amazing.Honestly, I feel like I could go on and on about how great of an experience it is, and it still wouldn't do it justice. If your looking to get a 360 at some point in life, this one game will last you a very, very long time.

I didn't really get on with Oblivion either. Got as far as closing one gate then gave up. This on the other hand has had me hooked ofr a week. Never been more glad I don't have a job. My question is; how do I marry someone? Go to Riften(or at least I think it's Rifton), go to the temple, talk to the head guy there, he'll give you an amulet. Wear the amulet converse with some NPCs. Eventually, one will say something to the effect that they're also looking to wed. Agree, then go to Riften, tell the guy you're getting married, and then the wedding should be the next day. Thanks dude. I've got a funny feeling I sold that.

Ever try fighting a fire-breathing dragon and one of those souped-up Lich things that pop out of those coffins at the same time? That is the epitome of not fun. It made the battle I described earlier in the thread seem like a birthday party at Disney World. The dragon was actually the easy part. That other bastard was the real challenge. Had a f***ing staff that dealt 40 f***ing points of fire damage and seemingly had unlimited uses. It cycled between that and a frost spell. I went through EVERY health potion I had. Got to the point where I had to run and hide behind rocks and pillars to use a Healing spell, which helped me run through almost all the Magicka potions I had. The follower I had was about as useful as bringing a toothpick to a gun fight. She was downed constantly. Though, it did give me time to use Healing. I had good weapons and armor and I was barely doing any real damage.
The reward was well worth it though. Learned 3 words for a shout and got that staff that son of a bitch used. It had to use it 20-30 times and it STILL had well over half it's charge.
This game is A LOT more challenging than I found Oblivion to be. The only tough part about Oblivion were the final 2 battles. I haven't even progressed much into the main quest and this game is kinda kicking my ass.

I recorded a video of me walking through Whitrun. The video shows some of the slowdown the PS3 version gets once the savefile gets above 6MB.

Has anyone ever had a Dragon crash when they fought it? I hit one with Storm Call when it went to fly by me, and it crashed into the ground and left a huge trail in the dirt, and lost a ton of health. Literally took one hit after that, but it looked awesome. Knocked me on my ass when it crashed though.

Soooo I have a tactic that seems to be very effective. Two handed chain lightning, turn ethereal shout, recharge magic whilst invincible, rinse repeat.
Seems to work on almost anything.

I like the Ethereal idea! The main reason I never use magic is because it needs recharging, so this makes it viable!

Also you never use stamina so whilst invincible you can sprint away to recharge even more, before coming back and laying the smackdown...so to speak. Beaten many a dragon by turning ethereal just when they ice/fire breath you.

Are there actually interesting combat spells this time or are they all still "X fire damage on target, X fire damage on touch, X frost damage on target, X frost damage on touch, etc etc" boring crap?

To be honest the fire spells look like you are wielding a flamethrower. Basic one is 8 dps.

They're all unique now. As far as I've gotten in destro (which is the Journeyman-equivalent Adept spells) they follow a certain format. The novice level spells are all channeled short range attacks, Flames, Sparks and Frostbite. The Apprentice spells are projectiles (they're much quicker in this game) Firebolt, Lightning Bolt and Ice Spike. The Adept spells are AoE (area of effect) spells, Fireball, Chain Lightning and Ice Storm. It's much more rewarding to use than in Oblivion.

So, Storm Call is pretty much the best last resort ever! I kept getting overwhelmed by the sheer number of Boethia's Cultist's, so I thought I'd give it a go, worth it! Speaking of which, Ebony Mail is badass. It's like the Chinese Stealth Suit all over again!

One thing I love about this game is, no matter what you're doing, it sounds epic. Was just discussing with a friend of mine about our progress in the game. It's impossible to not sound epic when saying, "So, I'm climbing the 7,000 steps to talk to the Greybeards, then bam... Frost Troll."
Of course, my Saints Row 3 talk is just as epic, but not so much quest-epic... more along the lines of, "So I was surrounded by Luchadores with grenades, A Flamethrower Brute, and backed against a wall... so I pulled out my Squid Gun, attached some Ethicals, then blew everything up.... then I punched all the survivors in the dick."

I think that The Ritual Stone's ability to resurrect the dead within a wide radius is pretty handy. One thing I love doing is let a dragon kill all the bandits in a fort then I drag all the bodies into a pile, resurrect them and lead my undead army into the keep and swarm the remaining few.

I'm getting my new 360 w/Gears 3 and Arkham City at midnight on Black Friday (following Thanksgiving). Now I might just have to get Skyrim too.
I'm gonna have a busy winter.
