I don't know a lot about Batman's comic history (or any comic book history), but have seen most of the movies (I LOVED BATMAN AND ROBIN By the way). On Friday, I watched Batman Begins and The Dark Knight and with some inspiration by the Sin Cara goings on {Spoiler}The character being portrayed by someone other than the original guy for the time being I am wondering has there ever been a point for a storyline in which Batman was portrayed by someone other than Bruce Wayne. Same with Robin, was it always Dick Grayson? Were there any villain's who changed portrayers but kept the same name? Any other superheros who would qualify for this question? I know something about.... {Spoiler}Spiderman being portrayed by a new kid but were there any others who had different men in the mask for storylines? Please enlighten me Fanners!

There have been at least 3 important Robins, not counting side stories that aren't really canon, like Dark Knight Returns.
Dick Grayson is the most famous Robin, and the first, but hasn't been Robin since the 80s. Jason Todd replaced him, then died, and Tim Drake took the role.
Batman has briefly spent time away from the cowl. A superhero named Azrael who has since died spent some time as Batman, as has Dick Grayson.

Batman has been two other guys.
1)When Bruce's back was broken by Bane, a man named Jean Paul Valley took the mantle. He was very 90s hero, and eventually Bruce beat him in a fight to take back the Batman name.
2)Dick Grayson twice took over the Batman name. First time was when Batman went on a vision quest thing after defeating JPV. Second time was when Bruce "Died" (long story there), and he took over and teamed up with Bruce's son, the new Robin.
Speaking of Robin, Dick hasn't been Robin in a LONG time. When he isn't Batman, he's been his own character named Nightwing. There have been other Robins.
1)Jason Todd: pre-Crisis...basically a new Dick Grayson. Post-Crisis...a punk kid who few liked, and when asked to vote, was killed by the Joker. Recently came back due to an evil Superboy punching reality.
2)Tim Drake: Popular Robin besides Dick Grayson. Don't base him on Batman: TAS, that was a mix of Drake and Todd with Drake's name. Smart kid, found out who Batman and original Robin were even before he became a Robin.
3)Stephanie Brown: Started as a heroine named Spoiler, was Robin for a brief bit before faking her death. Recently became a new Batgirl.
4)Damien Wayne. Son of Bruce and Talia Al Ghul. A bit of a jerk, but he's been mellowing under Dick Grayson's tutalage while Dick is Batman.

If I'm not mistaken, after Captain America was 'assassinated', the Punisher took his place for a while.

What is Tim Drake up to currently? {Spoiler} - He bought the Theater were Bruce's parents were shot outside of and renovated it into his HQ
- Almost got raped
- Faked an Asassination attempt that temporarily crippled him to throw Vicky Vale off his Identity as Red Robin
- Has a possibility of 4 girlfriends (We don't know who he'll go with)
1) Tam Fox 2) Cassandra Cain 3) Stephanie Brown 4) Lynx (Who May or May not be a villain)
Red Robin is a great series, And I HOPE the reboot doesn't screw him up too much

Sounds pretty interesting. Tim Drake has always been a very interesting character.
Didn't Ravager have a thing for him? Rose Wilson, not Slade's very dead eldest son.

If I'm not mistaken, after Captain America was 'assassinated', the Punisher took his place for a while. I think it was a one off thing. In one comic Clint Barton (aka Hawkeye) took on the Captain America mantle, but decided against it. Bucky Barnes eventually became the new Cap for awhile, with a new costume. For the TCs initial Batman question... this is the weird Azrael Batman we got in the 90's. I admit, I thought it was badass when I was like 13. For other heroes, there have been multiple Ghost Riders as well.

While I liked Knightfall, It annoyed me how it wasn't Bruce getting his Payback against Bane.

While I liked Knightfall, It annoyed me how it wasn't Bruce getting his Payback against Bane. The best revenge is living well. Bruce got to be written well for the majority of his outings while Bane had to contend with writers inexplicably having trouble writing a guy that was both huge AND smart, and just sticking him in roles that would have fit Killer Croc.

Venom has been passed on to different people. Eddie Brock, a geeky gangster's son, then Scorpion and now according to Wiki, Flash Thompson is the host.

I hope some series are taking the GL approach to the Reboot and just sequelising in the form of a reboot. But even that's a lie. They cant say they are keeping his history and then have Abin Sur alive and Sinestro a good GL again. That alone changes and deletes huge events and characterisations.

A lot of heroes and villains have changed people behind the mask. There have been 4 main Flashes and Green Lanterns, for example. And villains often keep their names even as the people behind them die off (Green Goblin, Captain Boomerang, Venom, etc.)
