There are/have been 8 Clayfaces as far as I know. Not sure if that is the most for a villain.
Crimson Dynamo (Iron Man villain) has had several people under the armour over the years too.

According to Wikipedia, it's been at least 7.

According to Wikipedia, it's been at least 7. there's been like 7 but the only one that matters is the original Beetle, Abe Jenkins who now goes by Mach-5 and is a reformed Supervillain/member of the Thunderbolts (sometimes their leader, too).

What are you talking about? Sinestro isn't a good GL as of the reboot and I'm quite sure Sur is going back to dead after Flashpoint is over. Sinestro is on covers for the new GL books in a green suit, therefore he is back to being a GL, not yellow. In fact, he's going to be THE Green Lantern come the relaunch when the main GL book sees Sinestro become the lead instead of Hal it's pretty obvious that it's just a story development and in no way going to be permanent. no need to get so worked up, friend.

That isn't the point, or perhaps it is. Why are DC screwing about with everything, bar John's little GL kingdom which seems immune to anything big beyond Hal losing the ring, which could have happened without a reboot that killed asome of my favourite series'

And Booster was a damn good comedic series with the awesomeness of Time Travel included (that was left with SO many loose ends).

When Tony Stark was having his worst battle with alcoholism in the 80's, during the Obadiah Stane story arc, James Rhodes took over as Iron Man for him while he recovered. This was around the time the Secret Wars happened, which Rhodie participated in as Iron Man. This was all still a few years before he became War Machine.

The only good that can come of that is a romantic comedy book staring Bane. Those were my two favorite DC books.

Really there are very few big name characters who haven't been portrayed by someone else. My favorite multiple portrayals has to be Grasshopper. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grasshopper_(comics)According to Wikipedia there were 4 Vultures in the mainstream universe and at least 5? Vulturions guys in vulture gear.

Most spidey villains have had numerous copies, most seem to get beaten down or killed by the original.
So ....
Doctor Octopus > Lady Octopus & Carlyle Calamari Kraven > Various sons and daughters with same abilities Rhino > New rhino in Gauntlet Mysterio > 2 others while he was dead. Vulture > Already mentioned 5 or so. Lizard > Son and Wife have both been changed at some point Green Goblin > too many to count Hobgoblin > lots of people assumed to be but actually weren't. So far 2. Venom/Anti-Venom>Carnage>Toxin all symbiote types + Venom has had various hosts as has Carnage to a lesser extent over the years. Numerous Spider Slayers
Sandman, Chameleon, Morbius, Shocker & Electro are the only ones who are just themselves.
