John Cena and The Iron Sheik work "stiff". Everyone else works snug.

If Vader was incapable of working lighter, then he shouldn't have been paired against the top babyface.
Michaels was the draw, Vader wasn't. Considering WWF would've been up shit creek if Michaels went out injured circa mid-'96, I don't think it's unreasonable for HBK to have had a degree of control over whom he wanted to feud with, especially when there's no indication that Michaels/Vader would've drawn more money than, say, Michaels/Sid.
Which is not to say that Michaels didn't go about this like a complete prick or anything.

In 1996 WWF had Bret Hart, Undertaker,Mankind, Bulldog, Owen, Ahmed Johnson, Goldust even Hall and Nash for a bit. Im sure WWF would have been fine "if" Vader ever hurt Shawn.

I'll say it again: Working stiff when you don't have to is unprofessional.
I agree that Vader was just doing his job, wanted to put on a good match, and wanted to be safe to his opponent. I'm not calling the guy a jerk, and I'm not putting him in the same boat as people who carelessly hurt their opponents. But, all things equal, the safer the better, and so the looser the better. I mean, you don't have to break a guy's face to do damage to him (also: Vader broke several guys' faces). You can damage a guy just from repeated beatings, or even one. So yeah, I'm not a wrestler, but one of the reasons for that is because I want to be able to walk without pain when I'm 40, and guys like Vader don't help.
I mean, if he brought nothing to the table other than actually wailing on his opponents, then I'm sorry to say it, but he SHOULDN'T have lasted. Doesn't excuse Shawn, but it's still true.

So basically, Vader worked stiff but then acted like a pussy when he got called out on working so stiff.

So basically, Vader worked stiff but then acted like a pussy when he got called out on working so stiff. A guy who was hired by a company in full knowledge that he works a particular style got upset when someone with a lot of undue clout in the company told him he'd make sure he'd get fired if he continued working his style and cost him his livelyhood and his last shot at working in a major north American company... Yeah, he should totally have manned up.

Guess that depends on how undue you think his clout was.
But for Vader to get so upset that he's - according to Cornette - literally crying about it is kinda pathetic considering Vader's track record.

Let a guy threaten YOUR livelihood, and the food on you and your kid's plates, because you do your job in a slightly different way from him that he doesn't like, all the while being a petty asshole about it, and let's see if you don't get a bit emotional.

Slightly different? I dunno, there's being stiff and then there's breaking peoples faces and knocking them out like Vader has been known to do from time to time. I'm not saying he broke HBK's face but if I was him I'd probably have a little chat with Vader too if he started to get a little rough.
I've been chewed out and had expletives thrown at me but I didn't cry about it and I'm certainly no Vader.

Yes. Undertaker and Mankind were feuding with each other very successfully. Austin started getting real hot around that time to. But still Vader never did injure Shawn.

It's not unprofessional to work stiff, it is just a work style; wrestling is a full-contact product. I personally think it is stupid to work stiff, but it isn't unprofessional. I thinks its not unprofessional as long as its understood to both know that one person is working stiff. If you all of a sudden work stiff its stupid unprofessional and dangerous. But if you know that going in its a little stupid and a little dangerous.

To chew someone out in the middle of the ring is the height of unprofessionalism, and makes both competitors look bad.

Cornette needs to let some 15 year old grudges go. He likely has not talked to Shawn in that amount of time, and made some serious character judgments based on events from 15 years ago. Honestly, I wonder if he really holds all the grudges he claims, or if he has figured out that his audience is the smart mark; therefore, Jim caters to that market by creating this wild, ranting character that tears anyone whom he won't see for the foreseeable future a new asshole.

If he works stiff, then so what! It's his style and Vince McMahon obviously knew how he worked before hiring him. Nobody really bitched about Vader working stiff.... they just dealt with it and stiffed him back.
If somebody wants to work stiff, then you stiff back... Flair did that with Vader, Farooq did that with Ahmed, The New Age Outlaws did that with Terry Funk, it's a common thing and Shawn just didn't like it
Kurt Angle has said in interviews that Shawn thought he was alittle too rough...
Shawn just didn't people working stiff on him, but instead of bitching about it... stiff the f***er back so he can lighten up! That's the logical thing to do

Dammit, thanks to you I just spend a few hours just watching Cornette rant on youtube. ;D I am watching now. First thought, Cornette is lucky he doesn't smoke. I smoke all day and don't cough as often as he does.
