Dammit, thanks to you I just spend a few hours just watching Cornette rant on youtube. ;D I am watching now. First thought, Cornette is lucky he doesn't smoke. I smoke all day and don't cough as often as he does. He think he goes up to people in wheelchairs dancing?

Cornette needs to let some 15 year old grudges go. He likely has not talked to Shawn in that amount of time, and made some serious character judgments based on events from 15 years ago. Honestly, I wonder if he really holds all the grudges he claims, or if he has figured out that his audience is the smart mark; therefore, Jim caters to that market by creating this wild, ranting character that tears anyone whom he won't see for the foreseeable future a new asshole. Seriously.

Guess that depends on how undue you think his clout was. But for Vader to get so upset that he's - according to Cornette - literally crying about it is kinda pathetic considering Vader's track record. Let a guy threaten YOUR livelihood, and the food on you and your kid's plates, because you do your job in a slightly different way from him that he doesn't like, all the while being a petty asshole about it, and let's see if you don't get a bit emotional. Plus it was only a couple of years after Vader broke that one guy's neck and was traumatised by the mere thought he may have paralyzed if not killed someone. Interestingly, when Vader first debuted, he was put in against guys like Hansen and Brody and just learned to work stiff early in his career...

Thing about Cornette holding grudges: I think it gets to him that many mistakes or stupid choices he's seen made over the years seem to just get repeated, emulated, or even admired by some people.
Granted, he should learn to get past things if just for his own health, but, eh, that's Cornette.

Is it just me or is the term "working stiff"" an oxymoron, like jumbo shrimp ?
Working to me is presenting the illusion that you're beating the snot out of someone without actually doing so. It takes no skill to enter the ring and just pummel someone into submission. I've never really liked Japanese pro wrestling for just that reason; it's just beat the crap out of your opponent until the pre-arranged finish.

It's not unprofessional to work stiff, it is just a work style; wrestling is a full-contact product. I personally think it is stupid to work stiff, but it isn't unprofessional. It is when the people you are working with don't want to work stiff.

I find Cornette entertaining and I found this particular shoot interview a good format, which worked particularly well with him. Although, at times it seems he has a grudge against more people than he actually likes.

I think working stiff is a phrase used for people who even their pulled blows are hard. So they aren't actually going in to pummel their opponents, it's just when they lighten up to the amount of force the average wrestler uses they don't look as good.

I wasnt there to see any of those. Jake said he was drugged and New Jack said he ended up helping the guy. I get people like to think they can comment on whats unprofessional or what is in wrestling but there really are no boundries in wrestling. If Jake showed up trashed and put on an alright match would the promoter care? No. If when New Jack "stabbed" the guy they drew a huge crowd would the wrestler care? Probably not. Nobody cares in wrestling if theres money to be made. This has to be the most ridiculous post I've seen here. It's ok to stab someone as long as you help them afterwards?

So basically, Vader worked stiff but then acted like a pussy when he got called out on working so stiff. A guy who was hired by a company in full knowledge that he works a particular style got upset when someone with a lot of undue clout in the company told him he'd make sure he'd get fired if he continued working his style and cost him his livelyhood and his last shot at working in a major north American company... Yeah, he should totally have manned up. Flipside, Vader should've known going to the WWF that he should change his style to fit the company. If he was told to ease up, then he should ease up and go on with it. You can't treat Japan and WWF the same. Chris Jericho talks about this in his new book, he went through a similar process, and look where it got him.

You should be a lawyer, that's a great defense.

Vader would work stiff w/ guys then would cry and ask guys to take it easy when they worked stiff w/ him... i.e. his program with Shamrock.

Backstage arguments are one thing, to pull stroke in a main event is pathetic!
