If it's a woman -
Well so are your knockers, but I still enjoy watching them.
If it's a man -
Yes it is fake. Just like me caring what you think.

Act shocked and start sobbing overdramatically. Haha yeah this is generally what I do, on a smaller scale. "Wrestling's fake, y'know?" (they always stick that y'know on the end for extra douchebaggery) Me: !! ... what?.. really?.. THIS.. CHANGES.... EVERYTHING!!!!!

I normally just say, "You're telling me this as if everybody doesn't already know." and just generally try to make them feel stupid for it.
What's funny is that these people always bring up the mythical "that one person they met once" who totally believes wrestling is real. People LOVE to make up stories of all these people they've met who supposedly believe it. Amazing that with all the wrestling shows I've been to and all the fans I've encountered, I've met less people who believe it than some of these non-fans.

Um...wrestling IS fake. I love it but it's not a sport. The pain is very real however.

Um...wrestling IS fake. I love it but it's not a sport. The pain is very real however. The problem isn't that it's fake. The problem is the attitude of the people who say it.

Oh I definitely agree with that, sorry I misunderstood. I hate when people get on their high horse about wrestling being fake too. But I usually respond with what I said and I try to explain it to them, if they're willing to listen.

"Wrestling's fake, y'know."
"Oh really? Interesting. Say, what do you watch on Mondays?"
"House/Chuck/Random ass movie."
".... You know that's fake too, right?"
And walk away.

It doesn't bother me. It is scripted.
At most I'll respond like others have stated that if their favorite show being not real doesn't bother them, they should understand why wrestling not being real doesn't bother me.
At any rate, I don't get upset about it.

I haven't actually said this to anyone, but I would ask them if they had ever been to Medieval Times. If they had, I would ask whether the rooted for their knight, cheered when they did well, and booed when they lost. Then, I would ask whether they knew it wasn't real while they were watching it. Then, I would say "congratulations, you are a fan of professional wrestling."

Um...wrestling IS fake. I love it but it's not a sport. The pain is very real however. This is close to how I respond. "There are two things you can't fake - athleticism and gravity." I also use the other tv shows' defense. "Oh, you're a fan of Lost? You know they're not really stuck on that island...."

What the hell are you talking about fake? It's not fake. Those guys got bashed and bloodied. I've seen guys get pounded in the ring. I saw a guy pick up a trash can, smash it into a guy's head. Blood went everywhere

My response? I don't care. When I go to a play or movie I know the actors are not really doing much of what is on screen (or are experts or are the roles they are portraying) because that's what theater is. Wrestling is just another type of theater, one that I happen to enjoy.

I get it every once in a while, here's how it goes down:
"Oh, you like wrestling? You know that shit is fake, right?"
"It is? I'M FED UP WITH THIS WORLD, EVERYTHING I KNOW IS LIES."
