HHH is going over at Mania.
Not for his ego.
Not because the streak is bigger than the titles.
Not because this is probably Taker's last Mania, what with his health issues.
It's because people expect it to continue. There is a huge emotional investment in the streak on both sides of it, and ending it now, when Taker's at the end of his career, would get a lot more people talking than keeping it going.

It really would be a step down from last years mania for HHH to win. They had a whole year to build up somebody new to be a credible threat(Sheamus would have been great if left virtually undefeated). Not that HHH is not credible. It is just because because for the importance of the streak, he is just meh. Him winning would certainly water it down.

No they didn't. How long was Taker off due to injury?
Besides, if it's bigger than the titles, it needs to be watered down.

This is going to sound fanboy-ish of me, but it's how I feel, and have felt since they announced this match:
If HHH wins, that will be a mistake. I firmly believe that, if the Streak were to end, it should have ended with Shawn. In the ring, as a personality, and in that company, there was never anyone better that had faced Taker at Mania. And if he couldn't do it, I don't want anyone to.
I don't like Triple H, I don't really care about Undertaker. My stance of who I want to win in this match is Not Triple H. I don't want Taker to win, I just want HHH to lose. In my opinion, if the best couldn't do it, no one can.

Besides, if it's bigger than the titles, it needs to be watered down. It`s not that the streak needs to be watered down. It is that the titles need to be treated as more important than the streak. This is something they never do anymore.

In my opinion, if the best couldn't do it, no one can. But Jericho has never faced Undertaker at Wrestlemania. ;D

John Cena should end the streak next year. Yeah...I said it. Honestly, Cena is probably the only guy left who could believably do it.

Where they messed up was having Cena lose at XXIV. Could have had 8-0 Cena vs. 19-0 Taker next year.

Ok....sense I generally say the same thing in every "Break the Streak" thread....I'm just gonna save myself the time and simply quote myself here. It makes no damn sense for him to do it, and would make NOBODY happy/money.
- The Marks will despise it because there's no way in HELL that moment can live up to the level of hype it would need to excuse the fact that in 19 YEARS no one else has done it.
- The "Smarks" will piss and moan because it's "Obvious HHH is using his place in the company and familial connections to win" Spoiler:
Regardless of whether this "Fact" is true or not
- The Bookers SHOULD hate it because in an era of lowered buyrates, lessened interest, and a loss of Big Name Main Event Talent they're losing a selling point of The Biggest Show Of The Year. Plus.....where do you go from there? HHH is already the most Decorated champion in WWE, and most likely to beat out Ric Flair's 16 World Title Reigns....what does he have to gain from breaking the streak? Another feather in his already plume-bloated cap to be sure....but what else? Now you have nearly 2 decades of booking down the damn tubes for nothing. Yeah Trips may have an ego....but I seriously doubt he's that short-sighted.
In my mind If Taker's up to it.....let him Go 20-0 and then retire with the streak intact.....no need to break it, there's nothing to be gained by doing so.

I don't think Trips has any business winning. He's been off awhile and has already been beaten by Taker at a WM. Seems like a wasted match for Triple H to return in a match he doesn't have any business winning.
What would be the treat in the Undertaker losing? I'm sure there are some that specifically get WM because of the Undertaker and this would be a massive let down.

I believe there is no method or no reason on giving HHH the duke here. It is my opinion that you use this to build a guy from main event to HOLY ASD*(&@$(*&.
As it stands, Taker should wrestle (poorly), win (barely), go away for 6 months, show up at Survivor Series, beat on Kane, reappear at Wrestlemania next year, go 20-0 and retire. It's probably all he's got left anyway.
But if you wanted one guy on the roster to go over Taker, there's only one answer.
A guy that's shown he can run the main event, can be dynamite on the stick, and is guaranteed (as much as can be) to not fail wellness, but has always lacked that little something that beating the Undertaker would give.
That man is CM Punk.
I will bow out gracefully now.

I don't get why the Streak being bigger than the titles (which I wouldn't really say it is, if only because Cena / Miz is doing a much better job of coming off as a big deal and is getting a lot more screentime) is a problem. A title win can happen at any time and, while important, it doesn't have 20 years of people being unable to beat you. To make a Pokemon analogy - in Gold and Silver, Lance might be the champion but there's a reason the final boss is Red.
