Seriously, it's an awesome powerbomb variation that could've gotten damn over as a power finisher; instead they stuck him with a lame, unmemorable DDT variant.
Then again, it's a moot point now since he's been FE'd and it's WWE making misuse of a TNA talent, so I really shouldn't be surprised.

God both companies dropped the ball on Lance. Dude can flat go in the ring and he is a nothing lower card guy in each. If he wrestled more of a big man style than he would have been kept around I think. His stuff was too indy for his own good.

Honestly, if they'd let Vance use his old moveset, and NOT shave and look like a white collar criminal, and NOT stick him with some lame, "intense" gimmick--
I could honestly go on. TNA may have at worst dropped the ball, but WWE kicked it into the old man's back yard like they didn't want it.

I didn't understand what they were going for with "Vance Archer". They started with a bad name, went with a bad gimmick, and had him use bad moves.
I've already seen that he's pretty good elsewhere, both in the ring and in character. I don't believe they INTENTIONALLY sabotaged his run...but it sure felt that way.

Because he'd never get over with that old move. Now a really poor man's scorpion death drop, now that's the ticket.

I can't remember if got debunked as NEWZ or not, but was it true that Hoyt got the name "Vance Archer" because he was originally going to get a Robin Hood gimmick?

He said in an interview that the Archer name came from somebody in his family. I don't know what the hell WWE was thinking with Hoyt. They wanted something out of him that he just wasn't capable of doing well. They had an image for what he was going to be that just didn't fit his wrestling style or his personality. They stripped him of what he can do in the ring and stuck him with a generic big man style. And seriously... The haircut. That man should never have short hair ever again. I really hope he gets used properly by a company, ANY company one of these days.

That's the big problem with WWE in general. Instead of looking at the guy and coming up with something that matches his personality, they shoehorn him into something they already have planned and he better get over. It's completely back-asswards.

That's about all I got from it. He might as well start it off with a crotch grab, Flair style.

Considering his height, that's a pretty big bump to take.

There's a similar move in WWE SvR 2011 called "The One Handed Spinebuster"
I was gonna change his finisher to that the other day, but, it's kinda not worth it, considering the CPU GM never puts anyone not in the running for a title in a match in WWE Universe.

When Vance had his medium length hair and beard I thought he looked amazing. He gave a promo one time in ECW where there were clips of him beating someone down (maybe Benjamin) mixed in. I honestly thought the WWE had something amazing on their hands.

I liked his team with Hawkins. It was a big save for both men.
On topic: That is a good move, but I can only think of a few guys in WWE who'd take that bump.

Sucks how the WWE dropped the ball on an actual big man who is great in the ring and released him yet brought up Tyson Kidd's useless bodyguard a few weeks later.
Why not just keep Archer and give him the role instead of a big guy who can't even hit a clothesline correctly?

It would be a technique that would work for sumos.
