Is Bryan still US Champ?

It's like having a mostly-ignored U.S. champion and a monster heel on a crap losing streak gimmick face each other in a one minute match isn't a draw any more.

This doesn't really surprise me. They had huge numbers during a big segment then went down to their usual ratings after it was done. I don't think it's a knock on Sheamus or DB.
It's interesting that there's that many people that follow enough to know to tune in, and did this time...but normally just don't bother watching. Untapped audience.

Christian vs. Brodus Clay and the Sunny video gained 219,000 viewers. I’d credit that to the Sunny video as that was something nobody would turn the channel during. Plus it did a 5.2 among teenage boys which blew away everything else on the show except the Austin segment, and no way that’s to see Christian vs. Clay. It also says something that they market heavily to the idea of getting teenagers to watch the hot girls wrestle and it doesn’t make a difference, and some videotape of a woman most of them never saw before who had a great look when she was 23 worked like nobody’s business this very week. Amazing. Even more so, Eve Torres vs. Nikki Bella lost 610,000 viewers (5.2 to 4.2 among those teenage boys turning it off). That’s bad no matter what time of the show. lol thats awesome- Sunny still has drawing power & not to mention I saw on Yahoo.com on Tuesday that she was among the highest trend people on there. I wouldn't be shocked to see Sunny wind up back in WWE after WM weekend even if just for a stint. She's a hell lot better then any of the current bland divas

I like BD, but this proves one thing... WWE messed up. They could have a badass heel with Sheamus, and they made him Miz-lite, without any of Miz's smarmyness. This! Sheamus was getting over as a badass heel and I thought had a solid 2nd reign as champion, then as you said, they turned him into a coward, buried him with Santino & Morrison (Although the latter would have made sense if they'd elevated JoMo into Main Event, instead of what appears to be him now jobbing to Ziggles) and given him the king gimmick. And on the other hand, you've got Daniel Bryan who has had a lame duck US Championship reign (then again, when was the last time that meant anything), given a crappy storyline to get the Bella Twins over and defended the belt, what, twice? Can't be surprised if people don't care for a match if it's between two guys that WWE don't care about themselves. That is the single biggest problem in WWE for years. All of the heels are scared of the faces thats why the marks dont care because they do not fear the heels any more

3.) I am not placing ALL of the blame on Daniel Bryan and Sheamus. I just think that it is unfair to give them both a get out of jail free card for this. They have to take some of the blame for these numbers. The writers also need to have their share of the blame. I'm a hardcore fan, so I would probably watch a match regardless of who was in it. But, why would the casual fan want to watch a match between HHH's punching bag and a guy whose gimmick is that he is a nerd. But how is that their fault? I doubt they let Bryan pick his own character, and I also doubt it was Sheamus decision to go a losing streak after winning KotR. It's the booking that keeps telling the audience not to care. Yet, it is perfectly acceptable on these boards to make fun of people like Jey and Jimmy Uso for their lack of overness, despite being presented as a threat on Raw maybe once. Almost everyone on this board and other boards that I frequent says that the WWE should cut their losses and release them from their contracts. Where is their chance? Do you not think that it is the writing team telling the audience not to care about them?

I don't see too many people blaming the Usos. I mean, geez, they got the mic once and didn't suck that much. They're perfectly fine in the ring. They just have NOTHING to work with, no gimmick, no feud, nada.
Daniel Bryan and Sheamus both have little things about them that should make them marketable. Sheamus can appeal to the Irish-American population pretty well (as an Irish-descended guy, I think that all of Sheamus's shirts are excellent "Irish pride" apparel), has a marketable look, is a flat-out workhorse in the ring. Daniel Bryan has a built-in section of the fanbase that goes insane for him and is kinda good-looking despite being neither a muscle-toned beast nor an effeminate pretty boy.
Everyone in WWE suffers from being booked as bland guys. I remember back in 2000 - even Dean Malenko, holder of the utterly worthless Light Heavyweight Title, had a gimmick (creepy wannabe ladies' man) with an angle to support it (stalking Lita). The guys on Heat had their own angles (Raven's ninja, for example!). Tag teams feuded over things other than the tag titles (Right To Censor miffing the APA and the Dudley Boyz). Nowadays? Zack Ryder has an utterly awesome gimmick, but he has no angles to support it. Trent Baretta is a great-looking worker with talent and absolutely nothing to use it for.
WWE has some great personalities right now - Daniel Bryan has a hell of a gimmick when he has the chance to work it (see: NXT 4), but he never gets that chance on Raw. Jack Swagger has a well-rounded heel character who can go in a lot of different directions. But none of these characters get any feuds worth a damn to show off their personality traits.
Why haven't the Bella Twins sicced a male wrestler on Bryan? How come Sheamus has lost all of his cred? Why on EARTH does Zack Ryder not have an angle (like the aforementioned Bryan/Bellas issue)? Why do Trent Baretta and the Usos lack gimmicks? How come R-Truth has nothing better to do than lose every week?
Creative really is the source of all woes here. WWE's roster is awesome - even the blandest wrestlers (Johnny Curtis, Trent Baretta, Michael McGuillicutty) are good workers, and the worst workers (Brodus Clay, David Otunga) generally have something to make them stand out.
Sheamus, John Morrison, Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston, Sin Cara, Justin Gabriel, Ezekiel Jackson, Wade Barrett, Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler - these are all guys who stand out for some reason, can either wrestle or talk well enough to get heat, and already have enough credibility for bigger pushes. WWE just gives them nothing.

The Austin segment was over a point higher than Raw's average these days so all that tells me is a lot of people who don't watch Raw anymore tuned in to see Austin and then left making the rating drop to where it normally is. It's a big drop but in proper context isn't that big a deal. Plus the show's overall rating was much higher than it usually is these days so Raw did just fine.

Sheamus segments often have a dip in ratings lately. Can't say it's his fault though, he has been booked horribly. Umaga was booked as a monster, Sheamus is a similar role has been booked as a coward, and he has won the WWE championship twice.

What did you expect?
Sheamus has won 1 match in months, and Daniel Bryan is an afterthought despite beating The Miz for the U.S. Title months ago.

The match sucked balls anyway.
The thing that sucks, is that there is no time for a build up for a match at Wrestlemania.
Thats why I think it should be Bryan/Ziggler Sheamus/Morrison.... Because it makes sense. Bryan and Ziggler had an interpromotional feud on Smackdown Raw and NXT.
And Morrison and Sheamus have also been going at it for awhile.

The conspiracy theorist in me thinks Bryan and Sheamus were put in that position on purpose to say "WOW you guys are not over, you lost so many viewers!"

But that "match" only lasted like a minute. I can see people changing the channel during the commercials after the Austin segment, then turning it back and seeing that the match was already over, so they changed back again, there was no reason to keep watching since another commercial break was coming up.

The conspiracy theorist in me thinks Bryan and Sheamus were put in that position on purpose to say "WOW you guys are not over, you lost so many viewers!" I don't think so. Triple H is still Sheamus' buddy, last I heard. And the WWE in general seems to like Bryan (remember how fast he got rehired?).

Teenage boys turned off during the diva match? And people say sex sells right? It DOES sell. It's just that, they don't want to see them WRESTLE. WWE - herp derp - makes their hottest girls wrestle. So, people see the hot girls, but then see the crappy wrestling, and then they change the channel.

I like Sheamus and Daniel Bryan, but you got to understand what the casual fan was thinking at that moment.
"Ok, Austin's gone...what's next?"
....
"Who the f*** is this pasty guy and why is he fighting a midget??"
