I actually liked the way the finish was done including HHH getting up first. To me it told more of a story that let them aim the camera at HHH and show his distress. "I can't believe this...I had him!"
They could have carted them both away with HHH being "injured" after being in Hell's Gate, but I liked the way they did it. Also gives more options for continuing the feud if they do choose to do so, or at least some promos.

I might be wrong, but to me, it didn't look legit at all, because they took so long to do anything about it and we didn't get any X arms or anything, like there is when someone is legit injured.
To me, and this may be just me, but to me it was them selling that Undertaker will do anything to keep the streak, but it's getting harder each year. With next year being 20-0 and likely his last WM, will the streak end? Just remember how much it took to put away HHHunter </casual fan>
They've made it easier to believe Undertaker might lose next year, while giving him a great excuse for his usual time off, without actually killing him again (I mark for druids and seriously missed them last night, but let's face it, we didn't need them again).
If he does turn out to have a bad neck after last night, fair play, I'm wrong.......but right now, I, personally, don't buy any legit bad injury (and as a fan of Undertaker, hope I'm right).

It was on PPV. They didn't have the time constraints they do on Raw. They could have gone as long as they wanted, really. So while Taker may be injured, or maybe just doesn't move very well after a match at this point in his career, I doubt that they shortened the title match because of it. Actually, don't they have MORE time constraints on PPV? Didn't WCW have a PPV feed cut out on them one time?

However, all PPVs have a set air time limit of 3 hours (expect Wrestlemania that has a 4 hour limit). Had they hit 11pm (EST) the PPV feed would have been cut. Such close calls as this year (they went out with just over 2 minutes left), makes me wonder whether they should try and get the limit for Mania at least extended to 4 hours 30 minutes.

Actually, I could see a mix of the two. If there are any two people who would know how badly they're injured and whether or not they (or their opponent) can keep going, it's HHH and Undertaker. I could very easily see a scenario where Undertaker's injured but tells HHH and the ref that he can keep going. The match continues on as normal. By the time the match is done, Undertaker is legit spent and can't make it to the back. Whether it's Undertaker himself or Vince, maybe someone realized that they could use footage of Undertaker carried out on a stretcher as buildup for next year; "Last year, you beat HHH, but they had to cart your ass out of there. This year, they're going to cart you out of there again, but only after I'm done beating your ass."

I actually liked it better on second viewing. Trips no-selling annoyed me a bit (the end is still annoying), but it's a 30 minute match, he has to carry it, what are you going to do. It's not a great wrestling match but it told a good story. And that false finish with the tombstone is great. I think the crowd might have actually accepted it. Both guys no selled the crap out of each other, and it made the match epic. It was supposed to be bigger than anything else, and the guys were kicking out of finishers on a Puroresu scale. Such a sick match, it lulled for a couple of parts due to resting up from bumps, but both guys did their best and it showed. Match of the night for sure.

I was wondering if the length of the divas match had anything to do with the result of Taker appearing hurt. Did it run long or something?

I didn't see 'Mania this year, I know for fact last year's and 2009's Wrestlemania were RIGHT at the time constraint. I think the bell may have tolled 11 when HBK waved and the copyright went up last year.

Maybe if they didnt feel the need to show Pee Wee Herman or Mae Young or the goddawful Snoop Dogg segment, stuff like this could be avoided.

He may be injured, but not too seriously. No way a camera is just going to sit there focused on a guy if he's hurt for real. (They did have a delay because half of Austin's comments were deleted. If Taker was seriously hurt, they would cut to another camera angle or a skit.) Plus, the appearance of the Brooklyn Brawler (of all people) as the first guy to check on him kinda smells like a work. Maybe if they didnt feel the need to show Pee Wee Herman or Mae Young or the goddawful Snoop Dogg segment, stuff like this could be avoided. I'll say this again clearly. They. Do. This. Every. Year. It gives guys face time. It gets a laugh more often than not. With these mega-arena shows, they need something to kill time while wrestlers walk back to the dressing room. Would you rather watch a beaten Rey Mysterio sulk his way back to the locker room? Or would you like to see something "entertaining"? At least it's not a commercial break.

The whole segment with Undertaker not being able to get up was a SUPER work. It was obvious they wanted to show both men were destroyed by the end of it...so when Taker's 19-0 stuff went on and the pyro he was still laying motionless..it was a psychology. They kept the camera on him the whole time, they wasted time on purpose to show how beaten he was, they had some goofball and just a ref pretending to be concerned, then he DID A FLAIR BELLY FLOP coming out of the ring which was obvious acting.
But I loved it.

Cena was also in the ring once his music hit right away. He didn't wait at all as usual. That's another thing to add to this speculation. Cena had time to prance about the ring and wait for his second cue to do his yabba dabba do! hand signal thing he does at the end of his verse...so he definitely (and the WWE production) weren't too worried about time constraints.

Id like to see something entertaining. Not Pee Wee Herman doing outdated schtick, and not "Hey, Mae Young is old! Lets make fun of her for being old".

The only thing that needed cutting last night was the 8 Man Tag. If you are going to have a match like that, just bump it to RAW the next day and do it right. Hell, call it a "FREE WRESTLEMANIA MOMENT for the WWE Universe."

Just a side-note on this thread: Hell's Gate is no longer a banned move. Teddy Long re-instated the maneuver as a legal one I believe a week before the Hell in a Cell PPV in 2009. Wasn't it banned by Vicky just out of spite, anyway? Doesn't matter if it was banned or not. It was a NO HOLDS BARRED MATCH.

I'm wondering if this would really be his last Wrestlemania, or if he is gonna go for 20-0.

I kinda hope he doesn't wrestle again until Mania.
And I think he should lose, if he wants. It can be built as the last 4 Mania's culminating into him losing, as he's gotten worse and worse physically because of it.

I'm just saying it wasn't banned for being super deadly and putting people in the hospital. It was banned like the spear was banned, where it was just a cheap way to inconvenience a face.

At first I honestly thought they were writing out The Undertaker character for good. The way 'taker wasn't moving, the medical guy looked like he was checking to see if he was breathing and trying to find a pulse all with a confused look on his face. I thought they were going for a whole "He defeated HHH he's officially the last outlaw and he can move on" thing.
.... Then they went to a close up and he started moving and after he flopped out the ring it all started to get a bit uncomfortable to watch.
So I don't know if he's legit injured or not, if he's not then he was damn good at making me believe he was and happy they fooled me.
