I was just listening to the Live Audio Wrestling radio show on my computer and there were a couple of callers with some VERY interesting insight from Atlanta.
One caller said that he saw the wrestlers going to their hotel and Undertaker got out of his limo (with McCool) and could barely walk. He said that he looked legitimately hurt from the match.
But another caller said that Undertaker probably tore his quad or something around that area during the match. He also claims that the Taker/HHH match was supposed to be 10 minutes shorter but went on longer because Undertaker got hurt and I guess to let him rest a little before the finish. Because of this, the Cena/Miz match had to get cut by those 10 minutes and messed with both of them. He (and the hosts actually agreed that this made sense) said that since some stuff had to get cut out, neither of them were sure what to do on such short notice and just had to wing it. Hence why the match wasn't as good as it could have been.
What does everyone else think about this? I think it actually makes sense and could explain why the last two matches were short and also why the main event just seemed off.

If Taker was legit injured, wouldn't it have made more sense to end the match quicker rather than going for an extra 10 minutes?

Would make sense, though I'd think they would have cut away rather than focus so insanely long on things.

Cena was also in the ring once his music hit right away. He didn't wait at all as usual. That's another thing to add to this speculation.

If Taker was legit injured, wouldn't it have made more sense to end the match quicker rather than going for an extra 10 minutes? Maybe it does in hindsight, but who's making that decision? I would assume that is a call being made by HHH and Undertaker in the ring -- who's going to tell them to cut it short? I'm sure when the ref checked on Undertaker, he said he was fine. Maybe he told Hunter otherwise, but these guys have more stroke than anyone in the company, so if they slow it down to get through it because Taker thinks he can finish it right if he has a few more minutes to rest, what do you expect? The ref going to ring the bell and call it a TKO? Is he going to say, 'Sorry guys, hurry it up.' I don't think so.

Yeah, it looked like Undertaker was legit hurt. Like I said in the other thread, Triple H had what looked like a genuine look of concern on his face and when Michelle McCool came out for the next match she did look like her mind was on other things. And in over twennty years, I've never seen the Undertaker stretchered out before as far as I can recall.

I was kinda surprised there was no video build for Miz/Cena. I know they had their personal videos but it seemed like there was probably a video that was cut.

Watching the replay, he's fine. Of course he's going to not walk well, he hasn't worked a match in months and he got the crap kicked out of him. Hell, even that "flop" out of the ring was a nasty bump.
The worst spots for him were Trips not catching him right on the plancha and Trips botching the tombstone. But he didn't get hurt on the tombstone, at least it looked that well, he was selling the submission, it wasn't like an Angle/Brock thing where Trips was doing it to himself.

They could have easily cut Miz and Cena's video packages if they needed more time. Or cut out the "count out" finish and skipped straight to the Rocks run in.

I actually liked it better on second viewing. Trips no-selling annoyed me a bit (the end is still annoying), but it's a 30 minute match, he has to carry it, what are you going to do.
It's not a great wrestling match but it told a good story. And that false finish with the tombstone is great. I think the crowd might have actually accepted it.

I know some people probably just want him to retire now and to an extent I agree but for me, it's gonna be a sad day when he does. When I was just a KID he was my favorite. I'm almost 27 now and I've always liked him. Undertaker is as much of a part of wrestling to me as is the ring itself.

Had Hunter not done the taunt, I think they actually might have. Him doing the pose and everything though? That was too over the top to have NOT been a "false finish" in hindsight. It had me going at the time, but looking back...yeah no.

I really think a bunch of people there thought the match was over. I would have been floored if it was, but they did a good job getting a huge pop on a near fall on Taker at WM. That's a good spot.
