I still think the somewhat boring truth is that maybe Vince was angry at him for leaving for WCW and Randy has been a bit insane at times, but at the end of the day he's happily retired and not interested in going back into the spotlight. Do a DVD set? Sure. Do a promo for a video game? Sure. Do a big return angle? No. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see him the HoF at some point, though.

maybe the Wrestlemania host thing will catch on and Savage will do it next year. Has anyone ever asked Lanny Poffo? Yep. and all he said was "I wouldn't ask Randy about that" and "If you're a real fan on the internet. You already know" Or something like that 1:50 Woah... That did more to make me believe those rumors than anything. I still really wonder where the rumors came from, but the fact that his brother acted so odd about the question makes me think that HE believes it. Also, does anyone know why he was talking about HHH in that video that was posted earlier? I mean, aside from the Stephanie thing? As far as I know they've never worked together or even in the same company. I guess they may have been in WCW together for a month or something but it's unlikely that they would have even crossed paths since HHH was just a jobber really. I mean, I wasn't surprised at him talking about Hogan. He's got a beef with Hogan for whatever reason. I wasn't surprised to hear him talk about Honky Tonk Man as everybody seems to hate him. But why HHH? What the hell could Triple H have done to piss him off?

Maybe Hunter was put off Macho after hearing things so he's the reason he hasn't been brought back.

Ok, should've watched the whole video before I asked what the deal with HHH was. Apparently HHH called him a dinosaur.
Yep.

So Vince might feel like one of his best friends has turned his back on him, Vinny has held grudges for less than that before. Hell him and Hogan are either best of friends of bitter enemies depending on what side of the bed they get out of in the morning. (separate beds, I hope).

I am especially surprised that Savage is not in the HOF yet:
1. His body of work makes him a worthy candidate
2. He's patched things up with other former stars that got into the HOF (see Hart, Bret and Richter, Wendi).

Anything is possible, but personally, I think that it's just that Savage wants to be out of the spotlight and is perfectly happy the way things are. While your opinion may differ, some people really do prefer it that way. Doesn't Perry Saturn also go to great lengths to stay out of the spotlight and keep to himself?
As for the Savage/Steph rumors....the age really doesn't play much of a factor as to whether or not it happened. It's possible that they had an affair in 1994 when she was already 18. Or it's possible that they did have the affair when she was 14, but nobody knew that it happened until she had already turned 18. But there's no statute of limitations on rape (statutory or otherwise), and if he really did have sex with her at 14, he'd be in jail even if details didn't surface until after her 18th birthday. So IMO, if there was an affair, she was already 18 at the time. Of course, that probably still pissed off Vince.....
I also don't believe the Slim Jim thing very much. Vince has forgiven (and inducted) people who have cost him a hell of a lot more money than Savage did.
The more I think about it, the more I believe that this is just a case of Savage wanting to stay out of the spotlight, and internet rumor once again getting blown way out of proportion.

As for the Savage/Steph rumor, while it is a bunch of bollocks, it seems that the majority of the people are more interested in the myth of it than the reality.
It was also stated that Savage was very overprotective of Elizabeth.

I figured that it was down to Savage leaving and going to WCW.
Never believed the Stephanie story.

As for the Savage/Steph rumor, while it is a bunch of bollocks, it seems that the majority of the people are more interested in the myth of it than the reality. . I think some people just want to believe the rumors sadly. The rumors just dont add up. I think the WCW thing is probably the most likely and for some reason Vince isn't ready to forgive him for the way he left. From what I gather, Savage and Vince had a standing agreement that when his contract ran out in 1994, he was going to be leaving the business and not going to WCW, thus keeping the Slim Jim endoresement with WWE. Instead, WCW threw a shit-ton of money at Randy and he told Vince on his last night at WWE. In fact, Vince is visibly angry at Savage during that broadcast. A month later, Savage debuted in WCW and the Slim Jim endorsement was also WCW's. If Randy and Vince were as close as some people have intimated, I can see why his leaving would hurt more than the others. The one area that is troubling besides Poffo (who may just be fueling the myth on purpose) is other guys have said that Randy wont ever be forgiven and things of that nature. The past couple of years have seemingly changed that with the video game and DVD, so its hopefully a matter of time until he's at the least inducted into the HOF. He's basically wrestling's Pete Rose, but at least Pete Rose has a known reason (amongst his backers) as to why he's not in his sport's HOF.

The Slim Jim thing, paired with Savage not wanting to play ball, no use pushing someone as an all time great who refuses to license his likeness or give interviews to make more useable material for DVDs, the fact a lot of people Savage worked with are either on the outs with the WWE or dead didn't help either. Savage also has a history of being difficult for companies to work with in the 2000's, he demanded the belt in TNA after a handful of appearances then took his ball and went home, and didn't Jakks at one point say the reason they never made a legend figure of him is that he demanded too much money?

I think Vince just felt betrayed by a loyal and good friend and worker when he went to WCW along with the Slim Jim deal. Even though the Steph rumours could be true, I think it would have eventually been revealed as the truth after all the rumblings about it over the past few years. Lanny Poffo was asked about it on a podcast interview and he said that to his knowledge it's not true.

all i hope is if he did do it,that he put on a five star match with dat ass.
I wonder which body part he worked over and i hope he sold well. He better of worn the 80s trunks instead of the cowboy gear too!
The whole thing strikes me as odd. Im not going to theorize that macho elbow dropped his way into stephanie but even the slim jim deal sounds odd.
I mean,it's the most rational theory dont get me wrong and given that i obviously dont know any of the people involved in real life I cant fully judge their character but it seems to me that thats a little odd for vince.
It's not odd that hed be pissed off, hell who wouldnt? He just took a major sponsorship to the rival company but it seems as if thats the sort of grudge he'd harbor for a while then he'd get over it. Closeness or not.
It seems to me that the disconnection between wrestling and real life for vince is a little bit odd,for example I dont really see the mcmahon dvd as vince trying to rewrite history..i geuninely believe that thats how he might of saw things because wrestling is his life. He's sort of a kayfabe character. I think vince would do pretty much anything he would think would work for business. You've got to admit that people close to him have screwed him frequently. Everyone from warrior to hogan to austin have at some time broken the crucial rule...and to bring it back to him being a wrestling character in real life..whats the one thing that seperates those people from macho man?
He acknowledged it and even sort of cut promos on them. Thats the thing I always hear about vince. Vince LOVES confrontation, infact I remember paul heyman saying that the major reason vince was upset with austin for taking his ball and refusing to lose to lesnar is that austin just left and he didnt give vince a chance to just say go to hell. Vince makes it very, very apparent to even the most casual of viewers who he isnt a fan of. Hogan was the source of mockery for years and they had the rock go out and condemn austin. You've got to admit, subtlelty isnt vinces strong point in this or anything.
And neither is it macho mans. Everything ive ever read about him suggests that he got lost in his gimmick too, look at the video he posted earlier and pretty much any interview hes ever done...he never drops character to the point where I think the real guy behind savage is maybe even gone to him and he continually insulted hogan and others...yet..vince...not really so much.
Thats the thing it strikes me as odd that of all the people in this world two people known for such a lack of subtlety and a confrontational attitude dont acknowledge each other at all. The only real reference of mockery i remember towards savage is the billionare ted skits but besides that correct me if im wrong...its like he disapeared. Not even to the point of rewriting history,it's not as though vince is photo manipulating tito santa into his place..it's just everything he did never happened. And with the exception of benoit, vince is a business man and even if he didnt like somebody he'd try to make money off of him if he saw a chance. And theres millions of chances with savage. He's iconic. He's also one of the few guys that crossed over between every demographic of wrestling fans. He was charismatic and colorful enough that he appealed to the casual fan but he had the workrate(i hate that word)of a shawn michaels or a bret hart. He's one of the few guys I can think of that pretty much everybody likes.
He has released a dvd set of randys, and hes in the video game now and i think hes got a figure coming out so now he might of decided he will give him a shot but it strikes me as odd that it took so long. over 10 years. The only logical thing I can see is savage did something pretty awful. At this point for all I know he secretly led a cult and ate infants or something. I have no clue what it is,but even though vince can overreact and have a hair trigger and even be stubborn...this is pretty odd.
I just hope if it was stephanie,he yelled snap into a slim jim when he climaxed.

didn't Jakks at one point say the reason they never made a legend figure of him is that he demanded too much money? Rumor I heard was Hogan had signed with them and didn't want Macho getting a figure. With Mattel, Hogan is in TNA so he hasn't signed a deal with them so they could approach Macho. Of course it's rumor, but if it was true it wouldn't surprise me.

According to old time territory guys that worked Memphis and for Angelo Poffo's ICW one of the reasons Randy was given the last name "Savage" was because of his penchant for hitting on younger girls. And let's not forget about what Gorgeous George said about him wanting to move her little sister into the house with them. So, I think a history of stuff like that is why Lanny is so cryptic about it and also because after WCW folded it was something Randy enjoyed perpetrating himself just for the buzz/lolz. I believe the whole thing with him and Vince is probably down to friendship. Vince and him were probably friends (close enough for Vince to take Liz's side and still be on good terns with Randy after the divorce) and he probably felt Randy betrayed him. According to Bret Hart, Randy called Vince drunk and early in the morning to tell him he'd signed with WCW. So that abruptness probably had something to do with the grudge too. Vince was also trying to phase Savage out as an active wrestler and this was probably the way Savage saw to keep wrestling. We know Vince loves closure and Savage was a really big deal. It was also stated that Savage was very overprotective of Elizabeth. Some people called it overprotective, some people called it domineering. Savage was probably paranoid that some one would make the moves on Liz like he used to do with girls in his younger days (depending on what you read while he first started dating Liz). Locking a chick in a closet is beyond "over protective" even though it may be necessary with the "boys" that day and age. Again, something that gets overlooked is how he got the name "Savage" in the first place. Just listening to his old ICW promos would cast suspicion on him.

I think there must be some really really bad blood between Savage and McMahon. I don't know if it is the Stephanie rumor which I doubt because she would have been almost under aged last time Savage was in WWF.
I think the bigger reason behind why he has never been brought in is because of Savage himself. He has kept a huge distance from wrestling ever since WCW closed other than that little appearance on TNA which he ran away from because he heard they were bringing Hogan in.

I don't buy Savage as the biggest reason. Whatever it is it's complex and a little bit of everything could be true- stranger things have happened in life (and the pro wrestling business). Judging from how close Vince was to Randy it's not at all far fetched that he'd be able to get close to Stephanie.
Everyone says that Savage can put anything in the past when it comes to making money: Hogan even said this. Vince is the same way. The fact that this is going the way it is and the money doesn't seem to matter makes it seem like it's coming more from Vince's end, to me. I can't explain exactly why but I don't feel like Savage would turn down involvement or being honored or even ask for too much money (he was probably having "issues" when he was alledgedly doing stuff like that it was also before his dad got sick).
However, Savage seems much more well-adjusted, now. His crazy-phase at the early part of the decade seems to be over, he's married again and he looks well. A lot of people have said that he stayed out of the spotlight because he was taking care of his ill parents. Now that Angelo has passed he's public. That timing is too coincidental.

There's so much fake news out there but the thing that annoys me the most is when people try to validate the Stephanie stuff by saying something like, "it's the only thing that makes sense." Huh? There's a million things I could make up that would "make sense", if true. Maybe after a coke binge Savage held McMahon at gunpoint in a bathroom. There ya go, that would explain it, and its just as batcrap crazy and made-up as the Stephanie stuff.
My personal guess would be the most simple answer - there's some bad blood, which sure, money and the right opportunity could potentially overcome, but Savage just hasn't bothered, and he's only willing to do something if he's overpaid, basically. There's other guys of less famous stature who have done stuff like this. King Kong Bundy was offered the HOF - he demanded a big payout and a Mania match to do it. It's not that he thinks that's what he's "worth" necessarily, he just doesn't care much about the HOF, so he doesn't want to bother himself with it unless the cash was really there.
