I don't mind most of the time.
I do, however, hate when people use the wrestler's real name instead of their wrestling name.
For example. "I met Phil Brooks at a signing today." No you didn't. You met CM Punk. Call him by the correct name.

What's even more hilarious/disturbing is when fanfic writers and whatnot insist on shipping or otherwise writing about not the wrestlers, but the performers. I really really need to go find that one questionable gory fic I stumbled across that starred not Edge, Christian, and CM Punk, but Adam, Jay, and Phil. And the Hardys, but still.

...I'm not looking at anyone in particular on this board, but it's when people use the "indy" or previous name of a wrestler. Examples: Daniel Bryan=Bryan Danielson Evan Bourne=Matt Sydal Sin Cara=Mistico In the case of DBD (the accepted acronym), we're probably all used to Daniel Bryan by now and it just seems odd to call him "Danielson" after he's spent a year in the WWE. To me, it's like calling Michael Cole "Shawn Coulthard"- if they leave the WWE they can use the old name all they want but IN the WWE it sounds very odd. Does this peeve anyone else off? Contemplating making this exact same topic. I agree with you. He's probably more world wide knows as Daniel Bryan now. It makes people look so up themselves when they so "Oh Bryan Danielson had a good match on RAW". "Bryan Danielson vs Dolph Ziggler was sweet" DBD is good though. Or when people say "Bryan" we all call wrestlers by their last name like: Ziggler, Michaels, Jericho etc. Since It's his first and last name it works aswell.

It doesn't normally bother me but I recently saw this comment on one of TNA's pics on Facebook and yeah it really annoyed me. "Lisa Maria Varon (aka Tara) needs to gets rid of Ashley Simmons (aka Madison Rayne). She's becoming annoying." No THATS annoying

I find DBD a bit stupid.
But what does annoy me is when people continually use "cute" nicknames like "Big Slow" and "Botchtista."
It's funny when someone comes up with something new, but when people continually use them thinking they are being witty and original it annoys me.

It's amazing to me what people will complain about.
If you're a fan you should know their real names as well as any other ring name they ever went by. Nothing should trip you up.
We can't change how people perceive us or our intentions, but when I'm writing about Bryan Danielson I know I'm not doing it to piss anyone off. I'm doing it because that is the name I am used to and quite frankly I find Daniel Bryan to be a foolish altering of the name so WWE can keep his likeness. It will probably pass in time as it did for me when Stephen Regal became William. When referring to Joe Hennig I write Hennig because I don't know how to spell McGuillicutty properly. Even now I had to look it up. As for Sin Cara, he is Sin Cara to me because I had no knowledge of him till now. I'm not going to try to sound cool by referring to him as Mystico because I never knew Mystico.
You guys need to find something real to complain about.

I wonder if a known wrestler got an extremely dumb gimmick, if this pet peeve would hold up. lol. Like say the newzy name Jericho was given pre-debut, remember... X-Calibur?

I know that a lot of people do it because they're trying to be "REAL fans", but unless you have a good idea of what they are, it's probably best not to judge a person's intentions. If you've watched a guy for years on the indies, even being in WWE for a year might not be long enough to get fully used to the name change. And some people are harder than others. I know already that it's going to take me forever to call Kong "Kharma". I wasn't comfortable saying "Mr. Anderson" until like two months ago. And Joe Hennig? I doubt I'll ever call him anything but that (unless he gets a new, not-stupid name), because I'm so used to calling him Joe Hennig, and because McGilliwhatever is just too hard to spell.
But yeah, as others have said, calling a wrestler by their real name, when they've never wrestled under that name? THAT is annoying as all hell.

It can get annoying, but I think it comes down to who you're with. When I'm talking with my wife, I tend to use the indy/TNA/whatever names for known wrestlers (Ron Killings, Matt Sydal, General Rection, etc), mainly because that's what I know them as. If their "new" in-ring name comes to mind first (BG James instead of the Road Dogg), I'll use that instead. When I'm on here, however, I always* use their most recent name. My wife knows that I'm not trying to be an elitist smark just because I say "The Deviant" instead of "Derrick Bateman." The Internet is another matter entirely.
* - The only exception to this is "Brodus Clay," who will always be "G-Rilla" to me. There is no way that I'm letting a pun that awesome die. Not on my watch.

We'll do exactly as you say Get off your high horse, you were making a good point till you decided to that was a constructive thing to type. I'm not on a high horse, I'm just saying there are way more important things in WWE to complain about. Yes, a cure for AID's is important, but let's be serious here, this is a wrestling/entertainment forum. When I said more important matters I meant WWE's lack of continuity, the fact that the product sucks, and how many people shy away from being a fan in social circles because society considers wrestling to be evil. Here you all are complaining about how someone writes superstars names in a forum. I'm not all high and mighty, I just think it's a pretty weak complaint.

It gets even MORE annoying when they feel the need to put the either of the names in parenthesis, such as:
Man, I'm a fan of Bryan Danielson (Daniel Bryan). Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson) had a really good match tonight!

Yeah, my wife and I were talking about Kong last night and almost simultaneously we started laughing and said that we should probably start calling her Kharma now. It seems weird at first, but we'll get used to it after a while. I do say Michael McGillicutty, even though it is a horrendously stupid name, and I hate doing it. I still do refer to him as Joe Hennig quite a bit though since I am such a huge fan of his dad. There used to be a guy on this site who ALWAYS called Shawn Michaels Michael Hickenbottom. I think he did it because he wasn't a fan/held some weird grudge against him. THAT really annoyed the shit out of me for some reason. I called him out on it one day, and either he stopped doing it, quit posting here, or I just don't notice it anymore, but I can't remember the last time I saw it.

It's not the same. Michael Cole professionally has always been called "Michael Cole". Danielson used that name before he joined WWE and become known to wrestling fans under it.
In the same way "Vader" would have been called "Vader" even if WWE renamed him "Mastodon".
It's different if a guy is playing an obviously different character. Like "Mean Mark" changed to "Undertaker"
