Cena SHOULD go over Rock but Shawn SHOULD have went over Hogan and Orton SHOULD have went over Trips ....and we all know what happened there , I say Cena will most likely go over Rock but I would not be totally surprised if they had Rock win (which I will say would be a reallt stupid decision on creatives behalf).

Rock is pretty unselfish when it comes to putting people over, I'm confindent that even in his hometown he'll lose to Cena. WWE ALWAYS has the hometown wrestler lose their match, this will be no exception despite the boos.

Normally they'd both have a 50-50 chance of winning the match. But since the Rock is the great one and the peoples champ, he gets an additional 25% chance of winning. And since Wrestlemania is in Rock's home town he takes Cena's 50% chance of winning. So if you take Rocks 75% chance of winning plus Cena's 50% chance of winning and throw in another 8% chance because Cena sucks, Rock has a 133% chance of winning. But since the Rock now has the odds of winning, and Cena's gimmick is overcoming the odds, Cena now has a 134% chance of winning at Wrestlemania. [/Steiner] ...and somehow I understood ALL of that.

I think Cena has to win. Only because The Rock won over Hogan. Yep, Cena has to win since he's the guy on TV every week

It really depends on if they plan on doing a rematch of some sort. If they are, then Rock wins at WM and then Cena goes over in a rematch. If it's a 1 shot, Cena is going to win. I do wonder what will happen if that match is in fact for the WWE/World title? Can anyone see Rock actually winning the title if he isn't coming back full time? Conversely, what if Rock shows up before WM and somehow wins the title?

It makes it even more obvious Cena is going over, and the match doesn't need the title to draw.

Slim to none.
The Rock has nothing to gain by beating Cena, Cena has everything to gain from beating The Rock.

If it would be a "normal" match with no stipulations, I'd say the Rock would have no chance to win. He should put over Cena, as Cena is the one who will show up on TV the next day and the days after.
However, the whole point of "Cena going to chase for the belt so he can defend it from the Rock" makes little sense if Cena being put over anyway. The belt would add nothing to that. The only way it would make sense would be if the Rock would actually win it, and it would be up to Cena to chase it again and win it back on the next PPV.

The Rock gains NOTHING by going over in this situation.
He is already next to Austin and Hogan as the biggest star in the history of wrestling...I mean entertainment.
What would Rocky winning accomplish?
If Cena loses, you are pretty much saying this current era can't hold a candle to the past era. I mean I know it's a bit of a stretch to say this but if Rocky wins, you are burying this entire generation of wrestlers.
Cena will look like a joke and be seen as the guy who replaced The Rock because Rocky got bored and left. Not because Cena TOOK and EARNED his spot as the number one guy. Your number one guy and the face of the company who has beaten every top name, stopped every monster and wrestles for your company night in and night out losing to a man who hasn't wrestled in 8 years and has no plans to wrestle after makes Cena look silly.
Rock was clearly the heel against Hogan and he still went over. Nobody in that building wanted The Rock to win that night, but he did anyway. It's not always about whose hometown you're in. It's about making the smart and proper booking decision.

But people with no ties to wrestling go over superstars at mania all the damn time. Is it that implausible for rock to do the same?

It's about making the smart and proper booking decision. You do remember Hogan putting Rock in an ambulance and then running said ambulance over with a semi right? Regardless of the cheers Hogan got at Mania, he was still meant to be the heel.

This is another situation where they can choose to turn Cena heel by winning this, if they want to.

The Rock showing respect for Hogan is what turned Hogan face and got him kicked out of the NWO. That said, Cena goes over easily.

I fully expect Cena to be defending the WWE title in the match, solely because WWE's got a terrible track record of making Cena matches for the gold when they don't at all need to be - for instance, the Batista feud was working out well even before they randomly shoehorned the title into it.

The difference though is Rock has never had a track record of refusing to put someone over. Hell if I remember correctly, he put both Lance Storm and the Hurricane over.
