I think it was.
He comes out to finally create conflict between him and Rock, which was pretty much unnecessary since Rock's conflict was almost entirely with Cena. He gets his chance to speak and then him and Riley (who really did not belong out there) attack Rock and they both basically get their asses kicked by one man, which obviously was the set-up to Cena hitting the AA.
I think they hurt Miz tonight. Make no mistakes, Im not a fan of him as champ, but thats another topic altogether. I think that the Miz is basically meaningless going into Mania, as is the belt. I personally only care about whats going to happen between Rocky and Cena. The Miz feels like an afterthought, and that feeling was made worse tonight.
I thought Raw was great, but this aspect is kind of grating on me a bit. Unless of course the Rock/Cena conflict just sets up Miz getting a sneaky win, which I really doubt. I also think its time to get rid of Riley altogether, as he really serves no purpose.

I really don't think so. He's benefitted just by being around. And he's destoryed Cena more than once.

No, because they never bothered to build up any credibility for him in the first place.

No because he isn't the type of heel that lives and breaths by how tough he is. He has a hired goon and sneak attacks people. What he did tonight was perfectly fine and, overall, it's for the best that he takes a second seat to Rock/Cena.

Miz isn't a world beater. He CAN get the upper hand from time to time, but he's never been 2002 HHH or anything.
There's no amount of build that would have had people thinking he was an equal to Rock and Cena. He could have won the belt at Wrestlemania last year and beat everyone and it wouldn't have been enough.

Every match on the PPV was built up tonight, except for one. So... that should tell you what they think.
Miz ain't wrestling Rock at WM, nor is Cena. There was zero build into the match, and it all went into "what will the Rock do", "will Cena turn" kind of stuff.
I thought it was kind of strange considering how much energy they put into the Miz, but who knows.

Miz didnt tower in fear when the rock got in his face, Miz kept looking at him, not showing any fear...and the miz then popped right back up after the people elbow which after the year 99 was the rocks main finisher....

This might be remarkably naive thinking on my part, but I think that the build points to a Miz victory. After all these weeks, Cena is still not focusing on him like he should be. Throw in the Rock's involvement and I can see Miz squeaking out a win via Rock's involvement/Cena being distracted.

He popped up because of the impact of the elbow (oversold) and then got thrown head first over the rope. He didnt tower in fear because he had Riley, who also got his ass kicked, with him.

The Miz was just in the ring with two of the biggest stars ever in the industry and will be in the main event with them on Sunday, I'd say his credibility is just fine.

They just need to make sure the crowd wants to see them get their ass kicked. There's a reason why the Jericho's and Punk's are successful. They're able to get embarassed and take losses because the crowd STILL wants to see them get theirs.

He said he reinvented WWE by turning the beltplate upside-down. His credibility was shot a long time ago. Yeah, they had a really good oppertunity with the Rewriting Miz-tory segment and it was just a complete raspberry from start to finish. "I've turned the mic sleeve upside down so it makes an "M". "The centerplate is upside down now...making an "M"...for Miz you see." Yes, we see that you have a minimal recognition of basic elementry letter shapes. Can I have those five minutes of my life back now? I think Miz has been really exposed with this angle. He's a great promo, sure, but standing in the ring with Cena and Rock he looks like a kid trying to hang with the grown ups. Someday, I'm sure he'll be back to the main event, but I see this title run experiment ending shortly. Keep in mind, I don't dislike Miz. I just think it's a little soon to buy him as a credible main eventer and that segment really did him no favours. I fault the writing more than anything. It made him look like an idiot. The difference is, guys like Cena and Rock could have made that work. Miz isn't at that level(yet). I also think that Miz should have been the one to take the first shot at the Rock, not Riley. Miz should have left his flunky to take the elbow after narrowly avoiding a Rock Bottom. That way it gives us something to look forward to at Mania. Those two issues aside, I really enjoyed Raw's buildup for all of the Mania matches tonight. It was pretty effective across the board.

Really, who cares? I don't think many do... it's Rock and Cena, under the guise of Cena/Miz. Miz sucks, no one ever took him seriously as champ, but this is one of the hottest angles in years.
