I think Miz got his his fair share of shots on BOTH Cena and The Rock, actually. He's beaten down Cena twice, mocked The Rock twice, and looked strong doing it until last night, but it makes sense.
All the attention may be on Cena/Rock, but Miz has done a good job looking strong and making himself not be a complete third wheel in this feud.
I WANT to think Miz might actually have a chance of retaining, but with Cena being the first to physically attack The Rock, they could be tricking us into thinking Rock is going to get his shot in on Cena at Wrestlemania, causing Miz to retain. But when actually, Rock helps Cena win out of some sort of sudden "change of heart" and "respect".
But then all of their effort into making Miz legit would be for nothing, and if they're serious about making Miz legit (which I think they are), then Miz NEEDS this Wrestlemania win. He could drop the belt to Cena on the following PPV.
This is all so confusing.

I think the Miz's credibilty was never really that high as champion. His most recent feud was with Jerry Lawler for pete's sake.
Everyone knew that he's not really a physical threat to Cena - just based on size alone.
The Miz, to me, is more of a cheapshot artist who connived his way into being champion. Toe to toe he really can't hang right now, but he has no qualms about attacking you from behind so last night didn't really change too much.
Wrestlemania is a great opportunity for him to establish some serious cred even if he does lose. If his match with Cena is ubercompetitive and the amount of heelish cheat tricks are kept to a minimium then I think the Miz will come out a lot better off than he was before.
