Some tag teams look very good on paper and when you see them on TV, but are not able to be as good/great as some think they would.
What are some examples of tag teams that never reached their potential?
I got to go with Big Show and Undertaker.
The idea of them teaming up seemed really awesome, and though they were two-time tag team champs, they never really meshed.
1. They never saw eye-to-eye, as evidenced by when Taker left Show high and dry when they lost to the Rock and Sock Connection the first time.
2. They held the titles for only 21 days combined.
Contrast that to when Big Show teamed up with the other Brother of Destruction- their title reign lasted nearly 5 months in comparison.
That ended up being what Show and Taker should have been- a dominant tag-team capable of destroying all opponents.

I think the Smoking Gunns were actually a pretty good team that could be remembered better than they were. They had some good years.

The New Breed. I liked those guys, I enjoyed the silly "from the year 2002" gimmick. "You see Tony Schiavone, in the year 2002 there is no Rock & Roll Express, there is no Jimmy Valiant..."

The Island Boyz/Three-Minute Warning.
Once they got stuck with Rico it was all downhill.

I know people disagree with me, but I always thought that the Head Bangers could've been to the WWF what the Hardy Boyz eventually became (as a tag team anyways, not as singles wrestlers) if the WWF got more behind them and, from what I understand, they hadn't been such big pains in the butt backstage.

Could also make a case for PG-13. Sure, they won a gazillion tag titles in Memphis, but was the tag title scene that loaded in 1997 to where the 'Fed couldn't give them a few months to get over?

Rico & Haas. They were really on to something here before Rico got injured and eventually let go. Their chemistry together and the way their group dynamic was gradually evolving was so interesting to watch.

The Young Stallions, even though Roma and Powers didn't get along behind the scenes, they had a much better look then Strike Force and I feel they should've had that spot.

From what I heard, Furnas and Lafon definitely got short changed considered how talented they apparently were.

I thought the New Midnight Express were pretty damn good (their match with the Outlaws at King of the Ring 98 was much better than anyone could have expected given the Outlaws limitations), but sadly as everyone knows the 'New' moniker on a tag team is a kiss of death for heat.

I alway thought that they got broken up at the worst possible time. At first they were really thrown together randomly and didn't click right away. When they finally started building some real chemistry together and some momentum as heels, creative came along and said "we have better things for Trish to do, so you guys break up and we'll see what we find for you". From what I heard, Furnas and Lafon definitely got short changed considered how talented they apparently were. Great wrestlers, but even Jim Cornette himself said they were never really able to grasp the American style psychology. Thats what held them back.
