At this point WWE just wants The Miz to be a snivelling, cowardly loud mouth heel who doesn't back up anything he says and thats pretty much what he is. And Miz plays that role perfectly.

Just something I noticed while watching Raw last night, specifically the opening with Stone Cold. Austin interacted with Miz, Del Rio, and Punk in a pretty similar fashion: tearing them down. But there was one huge difference: Miz looked like an absolute rookie out there. He looked like he was gonna start crying when Austin ran him down. Meanwhile Del Rio rolled with the punches and looked like he could stand toe-to-toe with Austin. Punk looked even better, he managed to turn it around and get a few insults thrown Austin's way. I know you can say "Oh it's the writers and bookers and blah blah", but seriously, there was a huge difference. Miz looked terrible, and as much as I hate to see someone fail at their dream, maybe WWE will notice he's not as good as they want him to be. Miz is the quintessential cowardly heel. If he convinced you that he was that intimidated and out of place with Austin - then he did his job. If Austin's back was turned - you see a different Miz.

Austin, I don't know, but Piper made him look like it was his first night out there on the mic.

I thought the Miz was taking his comeuppance, like that sneaky heel he is, very will.

He did what he was scripted to do.
He's as strangled by management as anyone else.

Wasn't Punk as well for that matter (since he had a promo spot with Austin)? He was booked to look like a chickenshit who was pissed off at Austin but too afraid to do anything about it. Any argument about him being 'out of place' are entirely subjective. I think he did what he was supposed to do, and many others think the same.

I agree that it is subjective, but I responded to a suggestion that seemed to not refute the original claim, but posited that it was scripted to be so.

Yeah but there's still that "IT" factor, having ring presence. Miz looked like a frog faced little kid out there wearing his dad's suit. He just looked sooooo mismatched compared to Austin. That's what I'm talking about: Miz could have ripped Austin a new one or gave him a Stone Cold Stunner, but it would have looked terrible since it's not believable that Miz could hang with Stone Cold. Ah, you are trolling, I see how it is. I'm beyond sick of the trend of "you are trolling" being used as a way to get out of debating something these days. It's really f***ing unnessacary. I don't agree with the OP either but please learn what trolling is. Anyway, yeah Miz was made to look pretty weak, but he did have what was the greatest counter to the "WHAT" chants since Taker.

I agree that many don't understand what trolling actually is - it's seemingly unfathomable to some that not everyone agrees with them all of the time.

She responded that Miz should have gave Austin a stunner and gone off script, against management and responded to Austin. It's either ignorance or trolling.

Where did she say that Miz would go off-script in doing that? I think she clearly meant that the script itself should have been different. I think you misinterpreted.

No she was saying that even if he had been scripted to do those things it would have looked out of place because it wouldn't be believable coming from Miz because of how out of place and out of his league he looked. Go back and read it.

I didn't notice... But I wasn't really paying attention. That whole promo with Austin & Miz was pretty boring I wasn't really paying attention to their body language... I could see behind the curtain and was mostly staring at Alberto Del Rio sitting in his car... cause he rolled up right after the opening pyro

Steve Austin's character is supposed to be the toughest SOB in the history of professional wrestling, and that The Miz's character is supposed to be the most arrogant, cowardly, chickenshit heel in the company. They played their parts to perfection in my opinion.
I felt Miz held his own. His mannerisms and expressions told the story, the one line I loved was his 'can I speak now?' Just the delivery was great I thought, and even though you called Austin's reply a mile off it was still epic to hear.

Go back and read it. Exactly - what I meant is Miz would have looked ridiculous if he was asked to do those things. No that he should have gone off script - I know full well how tight a leash WWE keeps on superstars when it comes to improvising. Also did not intend for this to turn into a huge hate-fest, it was just an observation. I am not a big Miz fan at all, but I would have said the same thing if Cena or CM Punk looked that out of place.

I was creating an analogy comparing Steve Austin/John Cena and Optimus Prime/Rodimus Prime, but couldn't figure out where Miz fits into it. Miz is supposed to be the top heel on Raw right now, though I have trouble saying "Miz" and "top heel" in the same sentence. If you're gonna make Austin/Cena and Optimus/Rodimus comparisons, Miz would be Galvatron while Vince would be Megatron.
