Consistently putting on good matches throughout the years, with various different styles of oppoents. Even with his knee's being shot.
He is incredible in Elimination Chamber matches as well

He used to be an amazing wrestler before injuries took their toll and limited what he can do in the ring. I second this, but would also like to add with a capable wrestler he can still put on amazing matches consistently. Not as amazing as he once was but still great. Also whoever mentioned Jericho/Rey at The Bash gets a cool point. Best midcard match in years.

Jericho/Rey's three PPV feud was epic. Each of the matches was fresh whilist retaining the quality of the one that preceeded it. Epicity.

Is hated more because of his booking than for his talent/character/personality.

He made an excellant lawn dart in WCW...but seriously he proves height and monster are not the only requirements to be successful in wrestling.

Women hate Mysterio because he gives men validation when they argue size isn't everything.

He put on a great MITB match this year, had a couple spots I never expected him to do at this stage of his career. My biggest gripe is the lazy-assed finisher he has now.

I don't get the hate from 'smarks' at all. Yes I too hated the 2006 Royal Rumble/Wrestlemania win but in my general ignorance, I think that is why a lot of fans hate him. Basically, get over it. I hear people saying they hate to see him as a contender for anything...really? He fills a void, a solid face to work (and damn well) with heels. I don't see the problem with Rey Rey.

I like Rey, I just hate his finisher
also the back handed compliments in this topic are unoriginal and really not funny in the slightest x

He puts on consistently good matches, is over with the fans, and has a unique finishing move.

Assuming it's true, the story King tells in SvR '11 about him getting a fans poem tattoed onto him is one of the most touching wrestler related stories I've ever heard.

I don't get the hate from 'smarks' at all. . I dont get it either. Mysterio is a awesome wrestler. And btw, most of the hate he gets comes from this forum. He is not that hated on other wrestling forums.

There has been much less hate for him over the course of this year on this board, as someone else said in here (much like Cena) a lot of people despise his old superman booking as opposed to him as a wrestler. Now he isn't winning every match he's not as frustrating to watch.

I'll say several nice things: - Rey was my favorite cruserweight in WCW and was among my top 3 favorite wrestlers from promotion during the time (the other two were Booker T and Sting.)
- He consistently puts on MOTM-level matches in nearly every PPV he has a match on.
- Even with his Superman-booking on SD, he always made his opponents look strong during their matches.
- Even though he's no longer at his peak, Rey is still one of the best active performers on the roster.
