I don't like the guy, but usually play devil's advocate. So, didn't Johnny Ace sign Punk in the first place? And Daniel Bryan? wasn't Punk JR's last signing? I'm not sure but that's what I thought. Bryan, when he was signed, had pretty much stated that he needed a new challenge and he had so many backers already in the E so I don't think Ace gets much credit for that (especially since they had been trying to sign Bryan since long before Ace got the job) Dunno if the story is true or not, but A LOT of wrestlers absolutely hate Johnny Ace

T He's lost Angle, Brock, Punk, Batista, Jericho (to be fair, so did JR), RVD, Jeff Hardy (not his fault), and I'm sure there are more. Stars are not developed quickly enough to replace these guys.. . To be fair: Angle: went crazy and was on all types of meds Brock: Quit due to the grind of the schedule Punk: Remains to be seen if he's actually leaving Batista: Seems more at odds with the PG direction than anything Jericho: Outside interests RVD: Didn't like the travel anymore Jeff Hardy: Drugs I'd hardly blame Ace for all of these losses.

I don't care if it's true or not, just fire Johnny Ace.

I could be wrong, but ever since the "Punk is leaving" news broke, I've gotten the feeling that WWE is trying their hand at leaking manufactured newz out in an effort to work the internet. The way it's playing out now is making it seem more and more like that may be the case. If it is, and it's working, we could be entering a new era of kayfabe.
Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part since it's a little sad that new fans don't get to experience a world where the curtains were closed and wrestling was much more mysterious.

And that's the reason why pro wrestling is suffering. There's no more mystique. Only a few times the last couple of years WWE has managed to do something without it getting spoiled like the birth of the Nexus, Cena's Royal Rumble return, and Punk's promo.

I want to believe this is true. But with all the garbage Johnny Ace has pulled over the years, I don't think failing to re-sign Punk would push Vince over the edge.

You're not alone. What really got me thinking was Cena's comments on this week's Raw. He specifically talked about Daniel Bryan getting fired and Ryder having his signs confiscated. Not a major thing by itself, but the way he worded the Bryan thing was interesting. Before this, the story was always 'Well the Nexus kicked him out for showing remorse.' But Cena said he was fired for being too aggressive.

I thought Heyman was usually credited with bringing in Punk?

I thought Heyman was usually credited with bringing in Punk? I think that's for Punk being called up. When ECW was restarted, Vince told Heyman he could have one guy from DSW and one guy from OVW to build up. He chose Mike Knox and Punk
