Not sure where to post this so I'll post it here. I posted this on another site and thought I'd share it here as well.
10. Zack Ryder:
Liked the WOO WOO WEE WOO WOO stuff he did on the dirt sheet and immediately was a fan of his ECW character. He put on good matches with Christian and was relatively considered a top contender on the C-Show. When he hooked up with Rosa, I went into mark overload. His webshow is hit-or-miss, but I generally enjoy it. I'm not an over the top Broski, but I am a Zack Ryder fan and hope that his hard work at least gets him to the midcard one day.
9. Alberto Del Rio:
GOD I hated the vignettes...not at first but they just DRAGGED ON. When he finally made his debut and tapped out Rey I was impressed with him and realized he was a big deal, fairly quick. While some may complain, I actually like his character; I like his gimmick with the cars and Ricardo and whatnot, and I marked like a bitch when I saw him win the Rumble live this year. He was on the rise so fast heading into WrestleMania, and even though he seemed to cool off a little bit, isn't as big of a deal on Raw, and isn't getting as big reactions as he was getting last fall, I still like him and hope he can finally fulfill his destiny one day.
8. Christian:
I was a HUGE Christian mark back in 2005; I ate up everything he said and did. I was a peep! My self-insert/author avatar CAW "Nick Steele" (named after the Pittsburgh Steelers) was initially a Christian ripoff in terms of entrance, taunts, and mannerisms. When he went to TNA I followed him and he's the reason I started watching TNA in the first place from 2006-2008. When he came back to WWE it caught me off guard and I RAN LIKE HELL upstairs to watch him rip apart Swagger. I essentially watched ECW mostly because of Christian. Recently though, I haven't been a big fan of his heel run and thought Del Rio should have won at Extreme Rules (and by extension stay on SD).
7. Wade Barrett:
GOD DAMN, did I love the original Nexus. Like I was marking like a giggling schoolgirl when they debuted and wanted an armband SOOOO badly (finally got one at the Rumble this year in the original Nexus' memory). Wade Barrett just has this presence on the mic; his back and forth stuff with Cena was PHENOMENAL. When he beat him at Hell in a Cell, I was extremely happy. In my opinion, he should have won at Survivor Series. Besides Skip Sheffield, Wade was always my favorite Nexus/Corre member. I guess my fandom of Whay Burrah is why I liked The Corre so much.
6. John Cena:
From 2003-2006, like most people, I was a very big Cena fan. When my parents got Windows XP and I got my own dekstop, my first Wallpaper was that of (rapper) Cena. To not include him on my list because of how the internet wrestling community feels about him at the moment would be biased and stupid. Cena was one of my top 3 favorites on the roster during that period and he was one of, if not THE reason I tuned into SmackDown during the mid-2000's.
5. The Undertaker:
During the Attitude Era, most people loved Stone Cold and The Rock. I liked Austin but...well, f*** The Rock; I was an Undertaker kind of guy. When I fully transitioned from WCW to WWF in 1998-1999, I was just so drawn to his Ministry gimmick. I was a huge fan of his right from the beginning. I was a huge fan of his return as the American Badass, AND his return as the Deadman. I remember sitting on the edge of my seat during the Batista match at WM23; one of my favorite matches of all time. Never found a reason to hate this man; one of the best of all time IMO.
4. Rikishi:
OH MAN did I love Rikishi; his gimmick was just so fun, so awesome...so EVERYTHING. MAN I really can't describe it well, TBH. He was my first choice to play as when I first popped in SmackDown! 2; that's how much of a mark I was for Rikishi. Unlike most people I was a VERY big fan of Heel Rikishi and his theme. When he never won the WWF Championship, I was extremely upset. HE DID IT FOR THE PEOPLE, and I loved every minute of it.
3. Mr. Kennedy (NOT Anderson):
Mr. Kennedy was probably the closest I came to having a new all-time favorite wrestler. When Chris Jericho left the WWE, Kennedy became my guy. I had his shirt, listened to his theme(s) relentlessly, and was a very big fan of his gimmick. Like with Rikishi, Del Rio and Barrett, he SHOULD have been Champion. Like my god, I feel strongly about him more than the others and it pisses me off to this day that a misdiagnosis robbed him of the World Championship in 2007. Even during his multiple injuries, and even when Jericho came back, Kennedy was still on the top of my active roster list. When he went to TNA and changed his name...I just...couldn't get into it. He's a shell of his former self and no matter how many World titles he wins over there I will never be a fan of the Mr. Anderson character. Ever.
2. Big Van Vader:
I was a WCW fan from 94-98, and during the early days Vader was a f***ing monster. He was THE MAN, and even as a 3-5 year old, I knew he was the s***. f*** Ric Flair, Vader just oozed power and presence and I will never forget how much of an impact he had on me as a wrestling fan. He dominated EVERYONE. Even when Hogan showed up and made him his bitch, I never quit cheering for the Mastadon. Best big man of all time, in my opinion, and my second favorite wrestler of ALL TIME. I just wish he had his life and health together during his 2005 "comeback." I would have loved to see him stiff the f*** out of people and win a midcard title or two.
1. Chris Jericho:
Who else, really? In 97-98, I was split between WWF and WCW. WWF had a great main event scene, but the midcard/undercard of WCW was better than the WWF's and first introduced me to Lionheart Chris Jericho. When I first saw him, he was well into his heel "WCW Monday Jericho/Conspiracy Victim/Funky Hair" gimmick and I ate that s*** up. He was such an entertaining and awesome character, plus his matches were fun to watch. I like wrestling more for the entertainment than the sport, and Jericho brought the best of both even back during WCW. When I finally stopped watching WCW in 1998, I had wished Jericho would jump ship with me, and when he finally did I was SO. HAPPY. His work never got worse and he continued to entertain me for years, leading to my #1 favorite match of all time: HBK vs. Jericho at WMXIX. When he returned, I wasn't too impressed but I still was a huge fan and his Serious Character was a nice refreshing change of pace and it just WORKED. I am and will always be a Jerichoholic for life. In my opinion he is the best entertainer of all time and is my favorite wrestler of all time.
