It seems like he is already being set up for a heel turn, but everytime I think they will pull the trigger they keep him going as a face. I think with his win over Rey, a huge favorite among the young fans, he has to be getting close. I think it could happen as soon as next week and might be put off until Summerslam. How long does everyone else think the WWE will wait until Cena turns heel?

True, but the kids are still into his act. And seeing as they have been into his act for the past six years, and how they are still into his act, yet having not really drawing less kids over time, I still see it going on. As long as WWE is centered on catering to the younger demographic, Cena stays face. Hell, as far as I'm concerned, Cena is starting to better his reputation with the Internet and the smart marks this year. Especially with increasing his workrate in the ring, selling, promos, etc. And the guy is a hit with Make-A-Wish, and does thousands of autographed promos. Geez. With that hard of a worker, I can't see WWE flushing it all down the drain by turning him heel, don't ya think?

I was really hoping for him to turn heel during the Wade Barret making him join Nexus era, I kept thinking he would at some point dethrone Barret and become their new leader, then I thought he would turn heel when he lost his career soon after, neither happened and I lost my hopes on him turning heel, they sure hint at it now like they did back then but I seriously doubt it would happen.

When somebody else overtakes him as the top merch seller. Well just read an article from Cagedsideseats.com by David Bixenspan here are some points: •His merchandise sales, arguably the best gauge until we have PPV buys, were already strong. Since his promo in Las Vegas, they have exploded. His shirts have sold out at arenas while they quickly sold out of most sizes at WWEShop.com. In the few days, all adult sizes completely sold out online. The "Best In The World" shirt sold out at the Allstate Arena within minutes of the Money In The Bank show starting. Demand for the shirt was so strong that people were paying as much as $585 plus shipping for the shirt on eBay and counterfeits were quickly listed. It's now stocked on WWEShop, albeit in a modified version without "Chicago 7x17x11" on the back under "Best In The World." •Living Colour's "Cult of Personality," Punk's new entrance music (WWE paying for it is a clear sign they see value in him, for what it's worth), has been skyrocketing up the iTunes top songs list since Monday night. As of right now, it's #97 in the US, #55 in the UK. Its placement on the rock charts is even more impressive: #1 in the UK, #3 in the US, and #5 in Ireland. The 2010 re-recorded version is #24 in Amazon MP3's Rock Songs chart, and has been in the top 100 Rock Songs for two days. In the Amazon "Movers & Shakers" chart for biggest gains in the last 24 hours (which means I should've looked yesterday for the really interesting figures), the 2010 version is #63 (sales up 17% from yesterday) and the 1988 original is #65 (sales up 16% from yesterday). I don't know if any of the WWE-produced songs have been charting since they've been pushing the iTunes downloads with graphics on TV, but I doubt it, since WWE would most likely brag about it incessantly on commentary and in "Did You Know?" bumpers. WWE entrance music albums have also not done well in recent years. In the last week he has been on Jimmy Kimmel Live and did an interview on Bill Simmons' podcast. Dave Meltzer in the Observer: Preliminary indications have Money in the Bank doing in the range of double what Capitol Punishment did in the United States although it won’t be until the end of August when WWE releases a number. Dave Meltzer on the board: Capitol Punishment first estimate 173,000 worldwide 83,000 domestic David Bixenspan added this: Double would be 166,000 domestic, which would be the biggest B show PPV number since the 2009 Night Of Champions show headlined by Cena vs. Hunter vs. Orton in a WrestleMania rematch and Jeff Hardy vs Punk, which also did 166,000 domestic.

I could see it happening within the next year or so. Cena's act is old and tired.
Punk is the first guy who seems capable of unseating him as WWE's current king of merch sales.

I think it's inevitable that Cena will turn heel. Nobody can stay a face forever. Just look at Hogan. Even Sting has had a couple of heel turns (albeit they never last long)
But he won't turn heel anytime soon. So the best bet would be after next WrestleMania. But probably quite some time after. Unless people just boo the hell out of Cena (even the kids) and cheer for The Rock at their WM showdown next year...

at summerslam or shortly after that...of course everything can change within 2 seconds in WWE, but I am SURE they have one plan that involves a Cena heel turn

In a few years, he'll start wearing black and say "Vincent McMahon promised me TV shows....movie stardom.....and video games brotha, but he didn't deliver, brothas"
Then he'll declare the Great World Order of wrestling brothas.

I can't believe this question keeps getting asked. He will never turn heel. EVER.He will turn heel when there is a replacement who matches Cena's merch sales and popularity with the brunt of the WWE audience. Otherwise, Cena is staying face for the foreseeable future. Once people get a grip of this pain stakingly obvious fact then I can start enjoying this board without a moronic OP talking about an incoming Cena heel turn every week. *exhales*

The people in charge don't have the balls to do it.

After seeing the current Punk angle where he got his hometown crowd against him, ther might still be a chance, but not in the near future.
