This term gets used a lot but the announcers, and rightfully so, I mean it's their job to sell the show. Most of the time. But putting aside the hype, what actually is the biggest main event in Raw history in your opinion?
Me, I gotta go with Austin and The Rock v nWo from just before Wrestlemania 18. In terms of sheer star power you have arguably the three biggest stars ever, Austin, Rock and Hogan, in the one match along with Hall and Nash who are big names in their own right.
But what do you think?

John Cena vs HBK
That match was epic.

Yeah, Cena/Michaels 2 STRAIGHT AFTER WRESTLEMANIA was easily the biggest.

Austin vs. McMahon, as it was the main event that put WWF ahead of WCW once again.

When I think of the biggest main event in Raw I go to the night after Wrestlemania 17. Austin v Rock for the WWF title in a Cage Match.
Raw going off air with Rock destroyed on the canvas with Austin/Vince/HHH celebrating the newly formed Power Trip, Raw doesnt get much bigger than that!

biggest as in name value: NWO vs. Rock/Austin (OP)
greatest as in best-worked match: Cena vs. Michaels, going almost 1 hour...Terry Funk vs. Mick Foley in 1998, No Holds Barred, was a damn fine hardcore match
for me personally, it was DX+Radicalz vs. Rock&Sock+Too Cool (2000/Dallas)...the heat in that match was off-the-charts, building was shaking, everyone was over, everyone went home happy

Austin & Triple H vs. Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit. Two of the biggest names in the wrestling against two of the most popular guys on their way up the card. That match was huge for both Benoit and Jericho and it really established them as main event players. Plus, it had the drama of Triple H working through the pain after he tore his quad. Not to mention that crowd was hot as hell for it all.
Honorable mention goes to Angle vs. Benoit cage match. The headbutt and moonsault from the top of the cage were some of the gutsiest moves I've seen on RAW.

Was it this cage match or the one with HHH from a year earlier iirc where The Rock was left a bloody mess in a pool of his own blood? That was quite a sight at the time

That was one of the hottest crowds I've ever seen. There were so many pops during that match, and it got even better when Kane returned at the end.

I don't know if HBK/Cena II was the "biggest," but it's possibly the best match I've ever seen on Raw.

How about Austin vs. Undertaker from June 1999? I think that match did the biggest cable ratings for a wrestling match up to that point.

HBK vs Cena as WM 23 rematch is easily the best main event in RAW history for me.

I'm gonna mention two matches no one else will (I think):
1. That 1994 RAW that saw 1-2-3 Kid vs. Bret Hart for the title.
2. The Flag match from Canada in 1997.

Austin vs. McMahon, as it was the main event that put WWF ahead of WCW once again. While obviously not a great match, I'd have to say it was the biggest for this reason as well.
