The problem with having gimmick PPVs, is that they can't use them at the right time.
Orton/Christian probably should have ended in the cell. It gets Christian away from his shenanigans and the ending from the Summerslam match would have fit right in with that match.
And Cena/Punk have had screwy endings in every match they've had, so it would kinda fit that feud too.
But with ADR as champ and Mark Henry as number 1 contender on Smackdown. I don't see Cena/ADR, Punk/ADR or Henry/Orton building up enough HATE to work, especially with HIAC being like a few weeks after NOC.
Of course both of these feuds could be just 1 month filler before they move back to those feuds, but Christian/Orton has probably run its course.

There hasn't been a multi-guy one in awhile. That could work on Smackdown.
As for Raw, if Del Rio wins (big if, I guess, lol), they'll build up enough hate to do it.

I'd love to see a chaotic multi-man HIAC on either show ala Armageddon 2000.
Give me either Punk/Cena/Del Rio/Morrison/Truth/Miz or Orton/Henry/Sheamus/Christian/Barrett/Bryan and I'm a happy guy.

For SmackDown, I'd probably go with Orton / Henry / Christian / Sheamus / Cody / Barrett. Only problem being it leaves Bryan and Ezekiel without much to do. Depending on if he's back by then, could replace Cody with Kane.

Gotta feeling Nash/Punk ends up in the Cell I don't even think WWE is THAT stupid to waste a Cell match like that. And Nash would end up going to the hospital probably.

JR's call for Nash blowing his quad ON TOP of the cell would be awesome. As for the action, I envision it being like when Homer got stuck in the waterslide on the Simpsons.

HIAC is such a stupid yearly PPV concept.
At least Elimination Chambers can be thought of as a special kind of match that needs special attention...
HIAC is a legendary gimmick match but that's solely because of the wrestlers involved.

Of the five(!) Hell in a Cell matches we've had since this PPV started, the only one that actually felt like it was part of an angle big enough to deserve a HiaC match was Undertaker vs. Kane, IMO.
The problem is that there's nothing inherently more impressive about a HiaC match than a standard cage match, except that WWE/F spent many, many years using the HiaC sparingly for really big matches. They trained their fans to expect that when there's a HiaC match booked, it means shit's going down.
And now... the PPV itself has gotten slightly better buyrates than most of the other non-major PPVs over the last couple years, which suggests the gimmick is a draw in of itself, but if they keep this up, I can see that fading in another year or two.

I thought DX / Legacy earned it decently well. And really, it was the only good one on either PPV.

I no longer care about HIAC matches anymore.
It only took them 2 years to kill out their once great concept.

The only other match on the 2 Hell in a Cell cards that deserved it was Cena vs Wade.

I feel the same way about Elimination Chamber to be honest.

While I agree with the main point, what defines "the right time"?
Mankind/Undertaker were thrown into a Hell In a Cell match with only a few weeks of build when they really hadn't even been interacting much around that time, and it ended up being the definitive HIAC match.

Punk and Taker's first encounter being a Submission Match just cause it was "Breaking Point"...yeah, that went well.

I mean, Elimination Chamber is ok IMO because it's not the type of match that is used for big feuds, it's the type of thing used when you want to put 6 guys in a title match. But HIAC should not be it's on PPV, and I kind of feel the same about TLC also.

I hate gimmicky PPVs with a passion. Why would they waste big time matches like the Cell or ladder match on nothing feuds? It devalues the match type & when you actually have a feud that's worthy of Hell In A Cell, it doesn't have the big time feel that it should.

HIAC is a legendary gimmick match but that's solely because of the wrestlers involved. Exactly, the Elimination Chamber is a test of endurance and skill like the Rumble or Survivor Series or King of the Ring. Hell in a Cell is where two guys go to settle their blood feud once and for all.

Wade/Cena could have been good in a cell last year. But that wouldn't have allowed Husky & Mike to get involved.
