I just don't get it. What do the Zack Ryder enthusiasts in the IWC see in him that I don't? I compare him to Charlie Haas... That you felt the need to compare him to Haas should answer your question. Haas had the same kind of internet following, except since it was before the Twitter movement, it couldn't spread. I bet you if he was around during this time, both him and Ryder would be on the same boat.

I'm a bit bemused that he's got as popular as he has. I like that he's so enthusiastic and tries hard, and his show has it's moments of being amusing. On ECW he looked more comfortable in the ring and doing promos. He looks pretty awkward these days in the ring and the past few weeks he's been wooden on the mic. Still, I like having him around. If he could get back to ECW Ryder that would be great.
But has anyone besides me noticed that he's thinning on top?

Hes a total goofball who is trying harder than most just to get recognition. He has established a character, catchphrases etc and he is just fun. He will never be in a 5 star match, he is just FUN.

Pretty much. He's clearly working his ass off to get recognized. He's not the best wrestler in the company, but he has a clear, defined character, and it really works, and moreover, when he's given sufficient screen-time, he's just really fun to watch.

I'm pretty indifferent to him. If he gets a push, good for him, if he doesn't I won't lose sleep over it.
But one thing I hate about him is that catchphrase. It's so forced and wooden sounding, and now he's trying to get the crowd to chant it back at him? No, that needs to be dropped.

Ryder is charismatic and has a distinct and funny persona. In small doses, he's a solid mid-card act.

I never used to like him as a promo guy. I thought he was a good wrestler in his ECW run but over the last year and a half I've realised how damned hard he works to make the best of almost nothing-opportunities to get over. He's a legitimate fan of the product and isn't ashamed of it and built a character out of people he noticed in his hometown.
He went from release fodder to being their strongest link in the internet as a social media department.
Some fans don't know him yet, that is true, but he got over with a section of fans that many never do so he has a base point to work up from. If he keeps appearing on shows and hopefully gets a new finisher then he should be fine as a midcarder for a while.
Overall he's just a nice guy who worked his arse off to get to this position, who happens to be a good in ring worker and happens to be pretty charismatic. Woo woo woo, you know it.

If you're wary of exposing the business then watching WWF/E and WCW products onwards from 1995 is dangerous for your health really. I never really got that argument given the product changed gears so much from those days over 15 years ago.

I respect that he works hard to make himself known. I'm not a fan.
I don't get Christian's appeal either, but "different strokes", y'know?

For those that understand, no explanation is necessary. For those that don't, no explanation will ever be enough. This, basically. In the end, it's just different strokes for different folks. I'm not much of a fan, in fact I find his character kind of grating, but I can't help but admire his tenacity, and I honestly want him to go far. But I understand that those that like him, will like him, and those that don't, won't. That's just the way it is.

CM Punk had the best response when someone asked him this on Twitter and he said "Because he works hard and is passionate about what he does."
Zack just comes across as someone who has been a fan his whole life and is finally getting his shot and living the dream. He looks like hes having a blast out there. I love that.

Anyone who has listened to Colt Cabanas podcasts can back us up on this one. These are the kind of guys that wrestling is all about. People like him entertain fans. He is in that Koko B Ware class of guys, someone who is just there to put smiles on fans faces.
