Pretty much. He's clearly working his ass off to get recognized. He's not the best wrestler in the company, but he has a clear, defined character, and it really works, and moreover, when he's given sufficient screen-time, he's just really fun to watch. He is in that Koko B Ware class of guys, someone who is just there to put smiles on fans faces. Bah, Koko was there for one reason and one reason only: Money.... To feed his Parrot.

More power to him and his fans, but I've tried watching his youtube show and I just don't find it funny. He's good in the ring though, so I'll watch him. The only thing that really made me laugh about his show was how much of a Morrison mark his dad was lol.
Also, I went to MiTB last month and went to Chili's beforehand. There was this dude dressed up like Zach Ryder and he was ungodly obnoxiously annoying. Unfortunately we got sat in the bar where he was and every two minutes he would yell "WOO WOO WOO! YOU KNOW IT, BROSKI!" And thats all he would do. Got old QUICK. Made me hate Zach Ryder that day for being popular enough for some moron to imitate him like that.

CM Punk had the best response when someone asked him this on Twitter and he said "Because he works hard and is passionate about what he does." Zack just comes across as someone who has been a fan his whole life and is finally getting his shot and living the dream. He looks like hes having a blast out there. I love that. By this logic though, John Cena should be the most popular wrestler in the IWC. Nobody works harder and loves what he does more than him it seems. As for Ryder, I wasn't sold on him until just recently. Loving him on Smackdown. I see he's quickly becomming the male equivilent of Mickie James (massive following that slowly degenerates over time due to people being annoyed by said following).

The exact quote was...
I don't see Ryder's following degenerating. I see it stabilizing though. There always have been people who dislike Ryder, they just get louder the more popular he gets. But if he gets over with the casual crowds, which he probably will, it's going to be okay.

I just don't get it. I compare him to Charlie Haas,, a little more charisma and was at least comparable on the mic. Ryder has way way more charisma then Haas.

I never get why people want to explain popularity.
A big group of people like someone for varying reasons. That's it.
Why do people want to explain this stuff or 'get it'? Just accept it and move on.

It's a discussion forum and some people may genuinely be interested how someone could like someone? Humans are a very curious species after all.

Because there always has to be one person who deliberately goes against the grain to the point of starting a thread complaining of not getting it. Im not saying that everyone has to like him, but do we always need a thread about how someone doesnt get it?

Funny, I went through the whole thread and didn't see any comment that remotely sounds like what you're calling someone pathetic for. I never get why people want to explain popularity. It's a discussion board, why shouldn't someone be able to make a thread about how they don't like someone or don't see the appeal of someone?

I'm going to address these one at a time because this weekend I haven't had the chance to. I have no problem with this. But I've been around here for a long time and whenever one of these threads start off, they usually go something like this: 'I don't get why people like (insert thing here)' 'Ok, I'll tell you why, (insert reason here)' 'I don't believe it because (insert reasons for not buying it here)' 'Ok, I'll counter those points (insert counterpoint here)' 'I don't believe it because (insert reasons for not buying it here)' 'Well, what's the point of asking it if you're going to disregard it?' 'Because I can/it's a discussion etc' So yes, I do have a reason for saying it. It's because most of these discussions end pointlessly. Not so much of a discussion or a debate as people wanting to find reasons for things that really shouldn't matter. Some people like Zack Ryder, some people don't. That's fine. Don't try and tell me, though, this is some kind of important debate to be had because, well, it isn't. It's preferences. Noone should try and debate preferences without a reason to. Because there always has to be one person who deliberately goes against the grain to the point of starting a thread complaining of not getting it. Im not saying that everyone has to like him, but do we always need a thread about how someone doesnt get it? This, however, I don't agree with. I don't believe people ask these things to be 'against the grain', they just want to know. Usually they don't listen to the reasons people have, disregard them or even treat the people who like the thing like dirt (it's worse with wrestling fans because, well, we should be happy lower card guys are getting over considering WWE's Anti-Midcard stance for many years) but it does happen. So should every thread be blind praise then? It's a discussion board, why shouldn't someone be able to make a thread about how they don't like someone or don't see the appeal of someone? Because the majority of posts like this aren't doing it for the sake of discussion, they're doing it to make people feel bad for liking said person. Anyway, the majority of the guy's post wasn't 'I don't like it' which, heck, would be fine. It's asking people why, which I think is silly. Again, just accept there are people who like different things from you and move on. Heck, maybe even focus on things you DO like instead.

People on the pro side need to accept that not everyone likes or "gets" the appeal that others do, and quit trying to demonize people who post such. Not every person who dislikes something is making a personal attack on those that do, nor are they always asking just to rile people up.

Stuff like this is never that simple to people, though.

I really like how Ryder fans aren't unrealistic and think he should be chasing a world title sometime soon (well...most of them anyway). I feel the same way about Ryder as a lot of his bigger fans do in terms of where he should be on the card, and that's in the midcard title scene on whatever show he happens to be on. He's certainly not bad in the ring, and he has a discernible gimmick which lends itself to storylines and effective heel/face turns.
That being said...if he doesn't get anywhere, it won't bother me that much, because A. its just tough to crack into the WWE landscape and stay there because there aren't many spots available and B. I'm just not a huge fan, and there have been plenty of better wrestlers who didn't get where they should be either.
It's great that he works hard to get over online and that, but having a funny youtube show does not and should not guarantee a big push. He's still the same performer, his youtube popularity does not make him a better pro wrestler.
