I wanna make that tired joke about TNA and it's never ending turns, but dammit this time it's true. It's a damn shame that they have zero clue what to do with Joe, a guy who at one point was a former TNA champ. It's a crying shame

ever since Angle came into to TNA it's been all downhill for TNA Fixed for general truth. I'm not trying to point the blame at Angle for anything, but it was around his entrance to TNA that things just started getting...bad.

Joining the MEM nonsensically was the beginning of the end of them booking him as any sorta real serious threat it seems. It's a shame.
In a way it's kinda like how they abandoned Monty Brown, except they actually had Joe be a main eventer for quite some time.

I can only think it's a comfort thing, happy just to turn up and collect a paycheque and get some tv time.
From a in-ring point of view and worthwhile, interesting feuds he's been spinning his wheels for so long now. Even re-signing with TNA at the end of 2010 hasn't led to any better push or change.
I do think Joe's brought some of it on himself, like not being in his best shape, but that's been the action of a guy that seems beaten down and not motivated any more.

That's a good point, and I'd agree mostly, but it irks me that for a company that tends to hotshot things in the name of a buyrate (Joe v Angle being the most notable example), they not only wait so long to get around to Joe having a title run, but it was booked so haphazardly. There were good points, like the monster in Joe almost costing him his title, but the he was booked to express himself like a half-witted teenage, that it was impossible for me to find it all that engaging. I can see why he lost the will somewhat, basically.

Probably because it was, more or less, the start of them pushing formers (WWE, WCW, ECW) over originals. Yeah, Sting and Cage were getting pretty big pushes, but homegrowns were still getting a lot of press and screen time.

Big, athletic badass monsters shouldn't be booked to act like prissy prima donnas.

And yet Scott Steiner's the one that gets gassed from running to the ring.

I get the feeling Joe really doesn't like being in TNA, but knows he doesn't stand a chance anywhere else.
It's really depressing.

Samoa Joe shouldn't have resigned with TNA when he did. He needs a different career path. The Samoa Joe of old, like, I read somewhere and maybe I'm wrong, but hasn't Joe's worth in wrestling fallen, like, he's paid less now when making indy dates then he was a few years back.
I think it was the Genesis 2006 pay per view that popped a big number, that or Lockdown 2008, which did like 60,000 buys, but I'm almost certain it was Genesis 2006, the very first match between Joe and Angle (though maybe Lockdown did a good number as well). Back then, Joe was one of the hottest things in wrestling, and now, he's kinda been killed off after his feud with the Pope. He looks more overweight, his neck disappeared, and now he's in a feud with Crimson going off on what Joe used to be. I like Crimson, I think he's ok, he's a little light when it comes to his moves, but there's nothing that bad about him. But, Crimson isn't gonna be put over that much by Joe, because Joe isn't what he used to be. He's been overlooked by people coming into the company viewed as more important then him. It's really sad, he was a draw for awhile, now he's not the man he used to be, and I do think he had his morale crushed by TNA.
And with the MEM thing when he joined them, I think he could have been a strong babyface to oppose them, but what happened with him was the same thing that happened with Tomko. He was on the cusp of doing something big, but then, SWERVE, he becomes a heel and it's all downhill. Cornette said that was a Russo idea, the Tomko thing, and at the time, Double J was above him, and I think Double J was the head guy when Joe joined the MEM, so I think that would be on both of them, more Jeff though because he okayed it.

MVP seems to be doing a hell of a lot better over there than he was in the WWE- and people consider that to be the top brand the world, let alone in the US. Between his look, his style, and the fact that he's a big-time American, I think he'd have more than a shot in New Japan, among promotions.

Things like that could be said for a lot of TNA wrestlers. Just look at AJ, they keep jerking him around. Champ for a time then return to midcard status, etc...

And, if he got into shape, I'm sure WWE'd be willing to give him a shot - if only because between Punk and Cena he has some powerful friends.

He doesn't have to lose that much weight before the WWE would take him. It seems that the WWE will hire any Samoan, regardless of how much they weigh. They're the only people in wrestling that can "get away" with being fat.

he doesn't seem to care that much, although its hard to fault him for that. I agree though he's the very definition of the athlete who needs a "fresh start" somewhere. He'd be awesome in Japan I bet.

With the Sinclair group now backing RoH and them getting a network TV deal, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to go after Joe.

Not sure if you remember but when Joe's contract was recently up, he was in limbo for a bit before resigning. the NEWZ sites reported he put out feelers to the WWE and they didn't bite. After that, he elected to go back to TNA.
