While history is on your side I'm going to take a more positive approach. That's what I use to say. I've been following TNA since 2005 so they get no more benefit of a doubt from me. Any faith I had in this company was destroyed over and over. I watch now for the laughs as I no longer take this company seriously. Anytime something insanely stupid happens, I laugh instead of get mad.

Well I'm with ya on the laugh instead of get mad department and I've also been watching TNA (regularly since it moved to Spike, on and off when it was on weekly PPV and FSN) but I just have to figure that at some point, they'll get their acts together. We'll see.

They could only do so much with the letters "TNA" anyways.

I don't think it will be what people here want of wrestling, in the sense of everything must happen in a ring in a match, with no promos or segments or anything other than a match. It will not happen, never happen, and should never be put in a position happen.
Funny, too, how most of the stuff that people liked about people had about zero to do with wrestling. Think of some of the most recent favorites and how their popularity had little to nothing to do with stuff in the ring along, from pretty much every company on this green as goose s*** Earth. I never got the immense , Jim Cornette-like hatred for promos and segments, considering some a lot of good stuff have occurred that started there and would have made matches worse without.
Really, I've been saying it for a while, and Kurt Angle said it in the video, where anything they do, whatever storyline or debacle or complaining or whatever, it always, ALWAYS, end up in the ring.

Here's one idea that might explain the extended name: On most channel guides, instead of TNA iMPACT, it might now read Impact Wrestling. Giving more of an idea for viewers what the program is about.

After their irritation at "We Are Wrestling" leading to people pointing out the small amount of wrestling on the show, I'm very glad to see them give it another go with this "Wrestling Matters Here" slogan. Open to so much abuse.

impact wrestling sounds better than removing word wrestling like WWE,Vince wrestling is not soap opera like you think...

are they ditching the red and black for a blue and white color scheme. maybe they'll change the ropes and the turnbuckles and ring apron along with the wrap around video screen logos
i don't believe this latest "change the face forever" move is gonna be perfect by any means, but i do appreciate this company trying, even if many consider it to always be a failure. they usually make the wrong move, but this time changing the name of the product from something horribly unmarketable to something that's straight forward and less "edgy" is a good move

Maybe they should add something, a third word before or in the middle or after like Total Impact Wrestling or Global Impact Wrestling or Impact Championship Wrestling...?

Any faith I had in this company was destroyed over and over. What TNA/Impact wrestling can't seem to grasp is that when people online or fans in general complain about they want "MOAR RASSLIN'" it isn't that they want wall to wall wrestling for 2 hours straight, but that they want what happens in the ring to matter more than what happens through a shakey cam lens. The best way I can explain it is like this: It seems to me, in TNA (though I haven't watched since like mid 2010 so if things have changed...okay) the in ring action serves mainly to draw attention to the promos and backstage antics, whereas I think most people want the reverse.

I like promos and such. I just want more wrestling than promos and backstage segments or whatever other crap they think of. If they can deliver on that, good for them. But after episodes in the past year that have had as little as 12 minutes of in-ring action, I'm skeptical.
Though it's weird how they're phasing out the "TNA" name for Impact but keeping it around for the PPV's and well, everything else. Seems like kind of a half-assed brand change.

They say wrestling matters, and now it's time for them to show that they really mean it.

Looks like instead of being called TNA impact it will be now known as impact wrestling, the TNA name will remain as the companies name.

They're definitely giving mixed signals on this. Go to the TNA homepage, play the video on the right side, and skip ahead to 1:08. The interviewer clearly says that the COMPANY is now being called Impact Wrestling.

I like it, it should be done gradually to an extent but I like that there was a change and that it was done and very well storyline wise, It would have been cool of Mick to mention the network wanted it changed because how stupid a name it was and that it was JJ's idea since hes the founder and he was there and they are antagonist and all but whatever...
I also would have marked really bad if the titantron thats behind the crowd always displaying TNA's logo would have changed when Mick said it, I mean hes the all powerful network representative, he could have arranged for that to happen.
As far as the more wrestling thing, I dont think they will have less promo more wrestling time but I think they will revive the X division big time, after last weeks demands by the x div guys, after just before this "change" Erick disrespected Suicide. It one of the post Hogan things fans miss the most and are vocal about it, It wouldnt surpise me IMPACT wants to please original fans again.
But as long as they remove the always an over 10 minute segment of just yap yap at the very beginning of the show im happy, some times that works sometimes its just incredibly boring and makes people tune off you can sometimes just open with a match and have the announcers and maybe some graphics tell you the main event, no need to always have some storyline for it.

According to Kurt, the TNA name is gone:
I know that doubting the company is everyone's favorite pastime, but I'm looking forward to it. At least to seeing what the change looks like come Sunday, and next week. And what other changes may come along with it.

Impact Wrestling doesn't make any sense as the actual name though. What can we call it...IW? That is just odd. It needs another letter in there to give it a nice 3 letter acronym. Either Pro or Championship would be good: IPW, ICW.
I just think they needed to slightly tweak the old name, instead of TNA Wrestling just drop the A and make it TNW.
