What exactly does the name change mean?
After it was announced, for the remainder of the show people kept calling it TNA.
Ken Anderson said he was the TNA World Heavyweight #1 contender.
The belt says TNA in huge letters, will there be another new belt?

It's simple:
The company is still called TNA. The show itself is called Impact Wrestling.

The only good that can come out of this is that TNA/Impact Wrestling may finally have some sort of identity.

I can't remember them once saying "TNA" after Mick Foley made the announcement.
But I'm thinking they'll keep "TNA" as the corporate name, similar to WWF's "Titan Sports" back in the 80's.

Just go look at their website and that should answer questions.
The TV show that airs on Spike TV is called Impact Wrestling instead of TNA Impact.
The company is still called TNA.

They bought the impactwrestling.com domain and it redirects to TNAWrestling.com. I do think it's like GATechGrad said though, a slow phasing out of the TNA name until only IMPACT WRESTLING is around.

I seem to be getting the vibe that this was done to spite WWE because they dropped "World Wrestling Entertainment" from their name.
The "other companies turning their back on wrestling" thing from the interview with James Storm is the real stand out.

No, this has been in the works for a few months, at least as far as the Impact Wrestling name. The "Wrestling Matters" tagline may be a shot at WWE, but I really don't know

It probably is simply a coincidence, but that interviewing cameraman just rubbed me the wrong way with how he worded it.

I think its a good name. TNA should definitely be phased out. Not a good name.

I don't buy that they'll really focus on wrestling. I bet the "wrestling" was for tonight & the next few weeks only, if that. It's probably why the Battle Royal took the same amount of time that it took Moses to cross the desert. After enough time passes, back to business as usual.

It's an all talk, no walk response to WWE trying to become "more than wrestling" by eliminating the word. Thing of it is, people will always see WWE as wrestling, and TNA too, so the tagline reminder is unnecessary, and in all honesty opens them up to further scrutiny that the company that stands behind wrestling, isn't delivering it. They already had a "we are wrestling" slogan a while back and that was in a time where VKM couldn't shut up about the WWE, and they were parodying Big Dick Johnson among other bizarre happenings. It's easy to say "alright alright, we'll give you wrestling" but until you get a creative team that truly believes and understands that philosophy we'll never actually get it. It'll just be business as usual.

While history is on your side I'm going to take a more positive approach. Well, at least more of a wait and see approach. I just really hope they actually do focus on wrestling, tonight's show was quite good for it IMO and I feel like after the PPV on Sunday that HOPEFULLY they'll live up to the "impact Wrestling" name.
