I know it's a tad old, but I don't think any other comic book game has ever recreated the experience of being the character as closely as AA. I'd say runner up in that area is probably Spider-Man 2. What do you all think?

Yes, it is the best....for now. Arkham City looks like it could, and probably will, dethrone Arkham Asylum, though.

I liked Arkham Asylum better when it was Batman Vengeance on my Gamecube.

I too favor Spiderman 2. I can't tell you how many months of my life that game robbed me of.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for me.
Arkham Asylum was good, although I think they really cheaped out on the boss battles.

I also think X:Men Origins: Wolverine did a better job of recreating the xperience of living a character.

Arkham Asylum is easily the best comic book-based game I've ever played.
Though notable honorable mentions (not including manga-based games or else this gets kind of ridiculous):
Spider-Man 2 (the one based on the movies) Ultimate Spider-Man The X-Men Legends/Marvel Ultimate Alliance games Marvel vs. Capcom series The Darkness XIII Turok: Dinosaur Hunter Scott Pilgrim

I'd say so. Though I'm not too big a comic fan, it kept me interested the whole way through.

It's the fact that they repeated that boss fight like, 6 times in the game that gets me. They had so many options with bat villains, and while they did a great job with Scarecrow and Poison Ivy, it got old doing the same boss fight 5 or so times.

Justice League Heores if it had been 4 times as long. That has to be one of the most underrated super hero games ever. I realize it's just a "Marvel Ultimate Alliance" clone, but it was still awesome and had enough differences IMO to set it apart. Love that game! Anyway, while Batman: Arkham Asylum is really good and probably my second or third favorite super hero game, I still think The Punisher (Playstation 2) and Spiderman 2 were better experiences. One too many times I felt like the thugs with guns could take down Batman a little too easily.
