Question: Since now Henderson is injured and UFC 151 was just dropped, why didn't they book Benavidez/Mighty Mouse for next week and at least have a main event for the show?

Damn, was looking forward to the fight as well . It will be a damn shame if Hendo never gets another shot at the title, I really hope he does. I am just happy that at least Jones vs Machida is happening this month/soonish. I took a few months off from following after the Sonnen vs Silva fight as there didn't look to be anything big until the original planned fight of Jones vs Hendo. This will benefit them in the future though. The amount of big money fights coming out of this with history: Jones vs. Hendo, if he can get back to full health and get his shot again. Jones vs. Sonnen, imagine the trash talk and hype it has now and finally a number 1 contender match with Sonnen vs Hendo. I can imagine all three of those matches doing well. Jones is getting people talking, in the worst way possible yes, but the guy is becoming a bigger and bigger name and his ego and outlook is only going to grow. I hope Machida is extra motivated for this one so we can get a classic, with Machida putting up a better fight than he did before. Finally, I can agree and understand both sides of the argument as far as Jones not accepting the fight. EDIT: Actually no scratch the comment above about not knowing which side to pick as far as Jones not taking the fight. I had forgot that A) Jones has been training for Hendo all this time and should be in good shape no matter who his opponent is. Especially with all the stuff that he has been saying to Sonnen (we already know what Sonnen is like) B) Sonnen was ready to fight no matter what day it was even though he was moving back up to a weight class that he hasn't been in for a very long time and this was going to be his first fight back. C) Considering the amount of guys who won't get paid in the lower card is crazy and it was a selfish move from Jones to not even consider them in the though process, that they apparently did. D) Greg Jackson comes off a complete douche. Its a shame to because I used to be a huge mark for Jones and considered him a great talent and good look/attitude for a champion. That has drastically changed over the past few months.

I don't have a problem with Jones with turning down Sonnen and good on him for not putting up with Dana White's bullshit.
This should be a lesson to the UFC don't try to sell a card entirely on just one fight.

Dana is spinning like a top trying to keep any criticism from hitting the UFC. He's sacrificing any good will that Bones Jones has for the sake of the entire company. Rumors are that Chris Weidman said he'd take the fight. Maybe they should've tried to do Weidman/Sonnen. Ha. I mean, it's ridiculous to expect a champion who has been training for months upon months for a fighter to be expected to risk his title against a completely new opponent with slightly more than a week to prepare.Who is more at risk though? The champion who had a full training camp (albeit with a different opponent in mind), or the guy willing to try and move up a weight class in 8-9 days who admitted he wasn't training much before he had gotten a call from Dana/Joe, much less in fighting shape? Now the champion is whining about a Machida rematch. I get wanting to fight the man you set up your whole camp to fight with his style to try and gain an edge over him, but to go from rejecting a fight (no matter who the opponent was), causing the card to be temporarily canceled (blame Dana if you want for that one), to now supposedly being displeased at the opponent you have to face as a replacement; not exactly making Bones look like a fighting champion to get behind, especially he's the first champion to say "No, I don't want to fight him", even if it's 8 days notice. Chris Leben beat 2 men in a matter of weeks. Leben's willing to do so but the guy considered the second best fighter walking on the planet in his profession can't train for one man in eight days? This is coming from a Bones fan. He has the right to say no, but he clearly won't gain any fans for this.

Chris Leben is a brawler who just walks forward and hopes for the best. Very exciting, but very open to flaming out quickly (as he eventually did after that impressive streak).
I can understand being upset with Jones. I still feel that having to do an about face slightly a week before a fight (in the crunch time where most of the downtime is spent hyping in interviews and press junkets) is bit much for a champion. I mean, champions are supposed to have some respect right? Perhaps that's what is getting me.
And yes, I will continue to blame Dana and those in charge of making UFC cards for the card being cancelled. You lost your marquee fight, so you pull the rug on those who haven't done anything wrong. Then you lay blame on the one guy who made one decision in regards to himself. Now people like Charlie Brenneman is tweeting Jones and asking for a check as if Jones owes everyone for making a self-important decision.

If Sonnen was a guy who deserved a title match, then I'd agree, but Sonnen right now is a two time loser in big matches, and his first fight in his new weight class should in no way be against the champ.

That's another thing bothering me. Sonnen is obviously a Dana pet despite his actions. Chipping off on Twitter about how he'd fight for free, how Bones could have his payday. It's all for more attention (more sponsorship money, more bonuses, more PPV buy cuts).
He lost his last fight. And now he's going to DROP DOWN a division and INSTANTLY get a title shot because he's "Man enough" to step up? That total crap. Dana himself said that Sonnen was the only man to step up...so are all the other fighters who said no ALSO to blame for the PPV getting cancelled? What about Henderson? How about we blame him for daring to get an injury?
I barely even like Jones and this whole thing is just preposterous to me. Dana White and Crew fail to make a proper PPV, lose their marquee, and shut up shop like children pointing to other people and blaming them for the mistakes made.

Frankly, if we're giving recent big match losers title shots, I'd watch "Jones/Vera 2" before I'd watch "Jones/Sonnen". Vera at least looked impressive in the last match he lost.
