While many talk well about the Golden/Silver age periods of Disney as well as the 90s Renaissance era, there is a time period which is not quite as well regarded. That of course being the Disney Dark Age period. Now when it began and ended is a matter of debate, but just for sheer simplicity's sake and to provide a somewhat decent rage of choices, we'll go with the traditional field of post Jungle-Book pre-Little Mermaid.

Should Pooh really count seeing as they just clumped together a few different shorts from pre-Walt's Death to make that movie?

Should Pooh really count seeing as they just clumped together a few different shorts from pre-Walt's Death to make that movie? I debated about including it considering its not really a new movie. I think the only reason I chose to keep it on the list is because the second and third shorts were made and released after Walt's death/Jungle Book, so if nothing else the film has representation from that period.

First instinct as to what this thread was about was the late 90s to early 2000s, which is probably mostly indicative of how old I am.
Anyway, only ones I've seen of these are Robin Hood, Winnie the Pooh, and The Fox and the Hound, and it's been ages since I've watched any of them so I can't really weigh in.

Robin Hood was easily the laziest effort animation wise, but it was still a damn good movie.

So if this period was the dark age...what would be the time of compiled movies like "Fun and Fancy Free" and "Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad"? ...though that era DID have my favorite Disney movie.

Probably Robin Hood, but I'm throwing a vote to Oliver and Company.

Why are they making the Horsemen sign? Don't you know? The Three Caballeros are the ORIGINAL dangerous stable! They'd go around causing chaos from America to Mexico to South America! They even had their own entrance music DECADES before the Freebirds! ...gay meant something different back then.

The Great Mouse Detective pretty much crushes all other contenders from this era. I'm stunned there aren't more votes for it. Vincent Price's performance in the piece alone makes it one of the better low tier Disney movies ever released.
That said, Robin Hood is a close second.

My vote goes to The Black Cauldron, I loved John Hurt's turn as the voice of Horned King and enjoyed the swords and sorcery setting of the thing.
Granted, I haven't seen it in years

I ride for The Fox and the Hound, with Oliver and Company at a close second.
