So tomorrow is the AFL (Australian Football League) Grand Final between the Geelong Cats and the reigning premiers, the Collingwood Magpies.
FUN FACTS
• Magpies defeated St Kilda Saints at last years Grand Final after 2 matches. First match went to a draw, Collingwood 9.14 (68)/ St Kilda 10.8 (68). Resulting in a replay game where Collingwood picked up the win (16.12 (108) to 7.10 (52).
• Though Collingwood are reigning premiers, it is Geelong who are going into the game as favourites.
• Geelong last won and played a premiership in the 2009 Grand Final against St. Kilda (12.8 (80) to 9.14 (68)).
• This will be Collingwood's Coach, Mick Malthouse's, last game as the coach for the Magpies before former Collingwood Captain, Nathan Buckley takes the reigns. Malthouse has coached Collingwood since 2000.
• This will be Geelong Coach, Chris Scott's, first Grand Final since taking the position from Mark "Bomber" Thompson at the start of the season.
• Former Geelong star, Gary Ablett jnr, left Geelong to captain for the Gold Coast Suns at the end of last season. Who are at the bottom of the ladder this season. So I can only assume Gary Ablett Jnr is crying himself to sleep...on top of a pile of money...with many beautiful women.
• The Geelong Cats however will be captained by Cameron "Alfred. E. Newman" Ling. Seriously look at him
I know what you're thinking, and no, he was not in that 1985 movie "Mask". He goes outside everyday looking like that.
• Collingwood will be captained by Nick "all's well that" Maxwell...I spent a while thinking up that one so...yeah...
• The last time these 2 teams faced each other in a Grand Final was in 1953, when Collingwood defeated Geelong (11.11 (77), 8.17 (65))
So yeah, there's the background. Who's going to watch it tomorrow?
