So...they didn't like it, but they're missing the point that what, they weren't supposed to or something? It's a comedy based off of "haw haw, funny voice, he's a dork, watch him cuss", and while there's nothing wrong with that, what would they expect from critics? Well, it's very basic, but for being basic and crass it achieves it's goal! It is the pennacle of low-brow-ity, we shall celebrate it!
If that was the review, they'd be upset that they were being patronized I'd be willing to bet.

If there's one thing that's proven, it is the invincibility of this kind of movie to criticism. The fact that it drew approximately 6.4 customers suggests that it blew.

I'm no critic, but this looked like shit to me and therefore I didn't need to check it out. Suppose the critics had liked it?
I mean if it wasn't shit, then they should have put something else out there in the trailer, but I'm assuming those WERE the best parts.

Or, to put it in a different light... You can't review The Last King of Scotland and then Bucky LarsonBut, best of all, You can't review Die Hard and then Bucky Larson. Seriously though, he just sounds upset that his movie got blasted and is in an upset mood about how it was an original character with no backing and they couldn't entice people into theaters because they couldn't really show the "funny" stuff in the trailers. You know, you can't review Magnolia and then Bucky Larson. So, he's just making the excuses that an actor makes when they can't "It didn't work and it was a failure because of that."

Even my fiancee thought this movie looked like s***, and she's normally right into these types of bad comedies.

See, if I thougth I could take it mentally, I'd review Bucky Larson and Master of Disguise, but that would require me to watch one and re-watch the other, and I...I can't. Woudl the only apt comparisson in his mind to be reivew two movies that wre both the drizzling s***s and say "well, they both sucked nine flavors of ass, but Bucky Larson sucked less".

He does have ONE point in that whole rant....people didnt WANT to see Bucky Larson, and went in expecting to hate it.
Here's the issue though......when you MAKE a movie that people that ARE PAID TO SEE IT DON'T WANT TO....you have FAILED as a filmmaker.

Rob Schnieder tried to pull the same crap argument when Deuce Bigalow got crummy reviews, saying something to the effect that it wasn't like these critics were Pulitzer Prize winners that knew jack all about movies anyway, which led Roger Ebert to basically respond with, "I have a Pulitzer Prize. Mr. Schneider, your movie sucks."

See, if this was based on the tone of the review, I would have sided with him. Reading some of the reviews, and they did go a bit too far on the actor's themselves.
However, he drags out the old "critics are too high brow for anything beyond 5* classics", especially it wasn't just that it's a movie that's bad cause of who made it, but it's bad because it badly made, badly edited, bad effects, and bad acting.

Movies like Bucky Larson are a dime a dozen. There's so many lower budget low brow comedies that come out and they make no money and get terrible reviews and Bucky Larson is no different and doesnt deserve to be.

Let's at least give Swardson this: he still handles criticism better than Gunner.

Blame not the critics for your poor showing, blame the commercials.
And everyone knows you can't review Little Nicky and then review Bucky Larson.

I hate it when filmmakers say it's the critics fault that they do not enjoy your movie. I'm a huge Kevin Smith fan and while he does blast critics, he has a core audience, like myself, who are going to see his movies and make him money. Bucky Larson didn't even have that.
Just face it, you made a really bad movie that no one was interested in.
Get over it and do better next time.
