If it actually happens this time, it's no loss for me. That show hasn't been funny in years. This could also be the last step before "Animation Domination" is renamed "MacFarlane Domination". Hell it could possibly be the only thing that saves American Dad! from the chopping block when Fox's next round of new animated shows crop up.

That, or it opens a slot for Seth's Flintstones

"plus they can replace them and nobody can tell the diddly-ifference!"
Considering its the last show I watch from the animation block now (well, ok, when I remember the Cleveland Show anyway) I don't know if I'd notice.

Didn't a similar thing happen a couple of years back?
I think The Simpsons has really gone downhill too, but I'd hate to see the series just abruptly end without a satisfying final episode.

I wonder if another network would pick it up and pay them more.

A somewhat similar thing happened in 1998 and 2004, but this time it's a bit different. In the previous instances, the voice cast were looking for a raise per episode. This time though Fox are looking to slash the cast's salaries in half. So it is quite different and probably more serious than those first two "near cancellations".
Anyway, I don't believe it. Especially since Fox were supposed to be considering launching a Simpsons channel in the near future. I think it's more likely that Fox will try and replace the cast.

If they replace the cast, I think people will riot and the viewership may drop drastically. We've been hearing these voices for 20-odd years. After that long their voices become synonymous with their roles. I mean hell, look at the Looney Tunes characters voiced by Mel Blanc. Sure their voice actors after Blanc have done a damn good job, but it just isn't the same. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

The amount of money the show makes internationally, I would be very surprised if it didn't carry on. If not on Fox, then someone else will pick it up.

Wow, Fox seems like total pricks here. Simpsons has been their P4P cash cow for years, and they out of nowhere ask the cast to take a 45% paycut? And the cast is willing to settle for 30(and points), yet that isn't enough? Bullshit.

Well, this is Fox we're talking about here. Has there ever been a time where they haven't had their heads lodged up their own asses?

You know, so far I've actually been enjoying this season. I haven't watched a new Simpsons episode in years before this one, but it's been decent.

I probably haven't watched "new" Simpsons' episodes regularly in about 7 years so nothing would change for me.

As the years progressed and the writers started to cram 3 punchlines into every single sentence, the animation quality has gone up. So there's a direct correlation between flash and lack of substance.
The death knell really began with the movie. That really should have been a theatrically released series finale.

Here's a f***ing idea.......How about you save money by....I dunno...just spitballing here..... NOT REQUIRING SPECIAL GUEST STARS EVERY GODDAMN EPISODE! Ever wonder how the show became a "Timeless Classic" or a "Icon to Television"....or the first few seasons did anyway? BY NOT BEING DATED, HACKY, POORLY WRITTEN, PROMOTIONAL VEHICLES! BY RELYING ON GOOD SIMPLE STORIES WRITTEN WELL! The "Principal Cast" (Azaria, Cartwright, Smith, Castellaneta, Shearer, Kavner) voice 86 SEPERATE Characters (26 for Castellaneta alone). Drop the Guest stars (Which I'd assume come with "Special Guest" pricetags) and I'd bet you save millions. I can't agree with this enough. I don't watch Simpson's anymore (unless old episodes are shown) but still, I'll be sad when it's cancelled because I've always lived in hope that it will become great again. Still, I don't think it will be cancelled. I'm guessing that even with the decline in quality The Simpson's has to pull in some of Fox's biggest viewing figures, then there's all the merchandising and stuff that will rake in millions.

I have always been a Simpsons fan since I was 3 years old, but for a long time now, I have not really kept up with any new episodes. If it does get cancelled, at least have the final episode be a last hurrah. I certainly would watch it. In my opinion, it's been long overdue for an ending. It has ran its course.

Also....the fans would riot. Weren't there massive issues when the Latin American Dub got new "Scab" actors a few years ago?
