What a random thing to suddenly snap about lol Anyway, anyone who at one point liked Evanescence should check out Nightwish... basically sound like if Evanescence was more metal. I'm not normally a fan of female rock singers, but I dig both that they have had. Original singer: Current singer: I like Nightwish's sound, and actually the opera metal genre itself is an awesome mix in my mind. Tarja (I think that was the spelling) has one of my favorite voices actually, almost haunting.

I seriously thought that Evanescence was broken up, and Amy Lee went solo. Hmph. I will also add that Lacuna Coil plays the same weak style as Evanescence, and Christina Scabbia pisses me off beyond belief.
And since we are name dropping female vocalized bands, and the go to bands of Within Temptation, Nightwish, and Epica have already been mentioned, I will do my part with less well known names.

I loved Evanescence, but their new album sounds like generic hard rock band #239872.

I loved Evanescence, but their new album sounds like generic hard rock band #239872. That's because the actual songwriters are gone, and all they have left are Amy writing the lyrics. Check out We Are The Fallen, it's where the rest of the original band is now. Personally, I think the new single sounds like a blatant ripoff of We Are The Fallen's debut single.

Is this just a Female-Fronted Metal Bands thread now? If so:

...I had no idea this band even existed after 2004. It's like being sick of The Darkness or the Crazy Frog commercials. The Darkness were (are? Since they've apparently reunited..) awesome! But that Crazy Frog shit was BEYOND irritating.

Lacuna Coil is the correct answer to a more metallic Evanescence. All Evanescence and Nightwish have in common is a female lead singer. Epica's better than all of them. Word. Love me some Lacuna Coil.

I read some where a while ago that the reason the band was formed was because one of the guys had a crush on Amy and basically formed the band to be around here. Then after they took off she had him booted out of the bad. Is there any truth to this or anything like that?

Is there any truth to this or anything like that? it's mostly just conjecture, but given how he acted when he was fired, yeah that's probably true.

Is Amy Lee still hot at least? She never was. They did a lot of airbrushing with her. She is actually really frumpy looking

Lacuna Coil is the correct answer to a more metallic Evanescence. That's what I used to tell people. But then Lacuna Coil tried to become Evanesence. That'd be like Biohazard becoming Limp Bizkit. Ha! In any case, I always found Lacuna Coil and Nightwish to be bands whose sole appeal are their female vocalists with little else to offer. It's a pet peeve mine that many people cannot see female-fronted bands for the gimmicks they so frequently are. Otep and Archenemy are another pair of bands where the lead vocalist is female but the bands just aren't that good. Are there good female-fronted bands though? Sure, but they have more to offer besides their female vocalists. Hence my mentioning of Epica, though there are more.

I've never loved being on these boards more than I do right now. Seriously.. ever since hearing Epica, nothing Evanescence does or have ever done impresses me anymore. My Immortal is good, but held up against Tides of Time? Puh-lease! Oh.. and my avatar... yeah, you might say I'm a fan.
