Follow the hash tag here follow the hash tag there. It's so damn annoying hearing it EVERY single show multiple times. TNA wasn't even that obsessed with their follow Dixie stuff a few yes back. Maybe I'm just not in or with it since I don't have a twitter. But really they need to lose that never ending inferiority complex they seem to have.

Because they know Twitter is socially relevant and they have a desperate desire to be also.

They really, really wanna seem relevant and tapped into the pop culture pulse. Which is why the combined age of their RAW broadcast team is 165.

They can work the shit out of fans with it.
Pretty obvious. You want your product out there.

Why not go all out if they're so dependent on it? How long till they start putting wrestlers twitter names on when their nameplates show up?

Why not go all out if they're so dependent on it? How long till they start putting wrestlers twitter names on when their nameplates show up? That's actually not a bad idea. If you remember, they used to normally put guys' website addresses on their nameplates (eg. wwe.com/therock)

Wait, is it a bad thing that WWE wants to be socially relevant using the only social media outlet that actually matters?

Because they like when social media makes them look good or agrees with what they say. But the second it doesn't they won't listen to it

Wait, is it a bad thing that WWE wants to be socially relevant using the only social media outlet that actually matters? Cole gets a little repetitive anytime the Miz comes out and he throws out what's trending on Twitter throughout the match everytime. And Zack Ryder's entire push is probably based on his internet popularity (see the "WWE Internet Championship: Is it time?" thread for the evidence of this).

It should be. What they don't need is the stupid (and normally false) "we're more popular than xyz and q put together" promos they run. THAT reeks of desperation.
Using twitter as an extension of the product or a way for fans to get to know wrestlers, is not. As pointed out they did the same thing with wrestler webpages.

But the second it doesn't they won't listen to it I'm confused as to why I should care or be impressed that the WWE has more Facebook fans than Pepsi. That's as relevant to anything as Apple sending out a press release noting that they produced more home computers last year than Nike did.

They probably noticed how often their stuff trends and figured they'd jump on it.

Wait, is it a bad thing that WWE wants to be socially relevant using the only social media outlet that actually matters? Plugging your Twitter and Facebook pages is fine every now and then, but bragging to everyone on your television show on things that are trending just screams "Look how hip we are! Notice us dammit!" Not to mention this isn't the first week they have done it. I thought the coolest things were those that didn't have to tell people they were cool

I think it is kind of annoying that every few minutes they shill The Rock or John Cena's twitters and what is trending now... I think less is better in this instance

Dunno, but they seemed to start after Lagana began asking why they didn't. Maybe Joey Styles had something to do with it.
