It just felt like Vince taking shots at WCW stars he didn't like.
I'm actually kind of shocked they reference this on that Firing article on WWE.com today. You'd think JJ is still persona non grata around WWE.

I think nobody ever saw JJ as a big deal so it wasn't a shock. He didn't say Sting you're fired or Goldberg or Hogan or nobody magor. He was fired a midcarder so it would be like Vince buying TNA and saying "Kaz you're fired!".

As far as getting Memphis footage that Lawler didn't have a hold of.

Didn't Jerry bring Vladimir Kozlov to WWE after he broke ties with TNA?

While they likely weren't pleased with Jeff, they did business with Sable and she didn't really screw them any less.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if JJ was one of the guys under contract with Time-Warner whom WWF hadn't acquired anyway, and his "firing" was entirely kayfabed.

Hell, they even may have got him to consent to it. The guy has been in the business for a very, very long time, so I'm sure he'd understand how these things go.

Vince considering repackaging JJ. The whole night was quite surreal, I was flicking between the shows. Very odd hearing Tony Schiavone calling WWE story's, even just for one night. When he mentioned Mr McMahon the first it kinda sank in.

Jeff Jarrett was a former WCW Champion, Kaz is a former X-Division Champion which is like....so what? A better comparison would be someone like Mr. Anderson being fired.

I remember Vince name checking some of the WCW main eventers and the cheers those mentions elicited actually surprising him.
He said something like "you're a strange crowd"

You may want to remove that youtube link, unless you got it off of WWE's page.

I bet they regret cheering for Bagwell. Yeah, I'm still wondering, why did they cheer for him and booed him later in that match with Booker.

As a fan of WCW until their end, I can say I was happy we wouldn't see Jarrett in a WWF ring. To say I was tired of Double J by that time would be the understatement of the century.
