Quick question though. I gave up leatherworking for engineering. I think I'm around 105 skill right now. Is it a tough occupation to master, or more expensive? I notice myself going to the AH quite a bit for materials. I wanna be able to make myself a Chopper. I know it takes 2 pieces of artic fur to make that. Luckilly I'm also a hunter so I put 2 pieces of artic fur in my bank for that. So I was just wondering.

I've never actually leveled up Eng all the way but from what I have heard it is a bitch to master and expensive.

I got Eng to 525. It's a lot easier and cheaper if you have mining and can farm for your own materials, though a lot of the times it's quicker to just go to the AH.
As far as the chopper/mechano-hog go, the Titansteel bars are by far the most annoying part of making it. Either way you're going to need to spend 12.5k on some unique parts you can only buy from an Engineering vendor outside of K3 in the Storm Peaks.

Yeah, there are quite a few guides that will allow you to level up mining and JC/Eng/BS, then the guide will tell you to mine a set amount of materials so you can then DROP mining and take up the second profession.

The crappy part about that is that I make LOTS of gold selling leather. Its my primary source of income, even more than quests lol. I guess I could drop it and pick it back up again, but I'm almost to 525, so I might as well ride it out until then.

True, and with the new patch coming with new recipes, it's probably best to even wait to sell more until it hits. Then you can jack your price up.

Man that quest where you give the speech to the twilight students was soooooo funny! However, whoever designed the quest "Save the Wee Animals" needs to have salt injected into their scrotum. That was so ******* frustrating. I beat it, but it took so dam long.
Oh well, at least I made another 340 gold so far today, which is godsend after all I had to spend to get my equipment up to specs for Cataclysm instances.

On my server, the AH prices for ores/bars is probably the best of the three gathering professions. Especially if you proc gems from mining (or prospect them from Jewelcrafting).
I kinda regret taking Eng and not going to blacksmithing, though. Sure the mounts are awesome, but their recipes have been really lagging vs. the other production professions. I love my killshades but they've been obsolete for awhile now, and since they're BoP I can't sell them on the AH for some profit off people with the first tier of Cata epics. The only real money-making opportunities are from the high rollers who want to commission a Mechano-Hog. And there are only so many of those. Doesn't help that a LOT of Engineering things are BoP or so limited in application that it isn't worth trying to sell them on the AH. The tinkers are also kind of worthless save for Synergy Cables, especially compared to the perks BS (extra gem slots) or JC (profession-exclusive epic gems) get.

After a bit of a soft spell, I'm banking lots of gold again, came home last night to 500 gold waiting for me, and overnight I've made at least another 500 more. I'm getting close to the 10,000 gold mark. Which is probably nothing for a lot of you, but I remember when I initially played the game that getting enough gold for my first mount was such a daunting task.
I also did something else I've never done. I was number 1 in dealing damage in an instance, never done that before. So I felt good about that.
I do have a question though, is Artisan Flying worth getting? I mean it just makes you go faster right? You don't need it for certain mounts or anything?
Just wondering.. I don't wanna get it yet if it isn't something you have to have.

Very good on the DPS skill. Sounds like you are getting that and money gathering stuff down pat. Something else worth mentioning: once you hit 85, the XP for quests and dailies is converted to gold, so that is another way to get money as well.
If you are a mount collector, getting Artisan Flying is worth it, since you can get the Swift classifications.

Well I guess I'll have to make sure I get it from a Stormwind trainer since I'm exalted with them.

If you are human, exalted is actually easy to get, just requires patience and, at times, a tabard - just be sure to do all the quests in the starting zones for the dwarves, the gnomes, the nelfs and the space goats and it should be easy to stock up on mounts.

Well I'm a night elf hunter. I got exalted with Stormwind somewhere around level 70, then I earned exalted with Gnomeregan. I think I'm getting close with a couple others. With the gnomes I didn't even do a single quest for them, the gnomes REALLY love it when you do Lich King dungeons lol.

My favorite quest. Horde side, first quest in Hillsbrad. f***ing epic. That would be 'Welcome to the Machine', no? And yes, it is epic. But anyone Alliance side MUST do Redridge. Three words: John. K. Keeshan.

Interesting choice for the hunter, I would think a nelf would be more likely to be a druid or a priest. Hunters work, but I like the dwarf for those alliance side. Sorry, just giving thoughts there, don't mind me. Goes without saying the easiest way to get rep is just get the tabards and random dungeon to your heart's content.

Oh and for anyone interesting in playing/rolling an alt/who cares, here are my personal fav. race/class combos:
Horde:
Orc - For a male orc, either a shaman, warrior or a DK. Female, hunter or shaman.
Troll - Either gender would be a priest or a warlock.
Forsaken - Either gender would be a warlock, maybe a mage.
Tauren - Either gender would be a shaman or a druid.
Blood Elf - Male paladin, female mage.
Goblin - Either gender for a rogue.
Alliance
Human - Either gender for a warrior, paladin or a rogue.
Dwarf - Male hunter, female warrior or paladin.
Night Elf - Male druid, female priest or hunter.
Gnome - Either gender for a warlock or mage.
Draenai - Either gender for shaman or paladin.
Worgan - Male druid, female hunter.
Again, it's all just for looks and the best RP "role" if you care about such things.

Just double checking here with the question asker, you mean Artisan (Lv 70 flying ~280% speed) and not Master (Lv 80 ~310%), right? Both are the same price which is why I ask and I know I get them confused a lot. I agree and say both are eventually worth it, especially Artisan since it significantly cuts down on travel time (with mount up Gperk and talents and passive abilities that speed up mount speed like Crusader's Aura you can easily go twice as fast over Expert). The added increase from Master is much smaller, but still pretty nice. Plus, dragon mounts.

And here's my favorite for class/race combos for RP or look purpose:
Horde:
Orc - Male: Shaman, Warrior, DK. Female: Hunter, Rogue (Shattered Hand)
Troll - Hunter (Shadow Hunter), warlock, shaman for both genders (Witch Doctor works great for both as long as you take alchemy)
Forsaken - Anything "sinister" for either gender besides DK. So warlock, rogue, and shadow priest. I also like Forsaken mages as apothecaries. Locks work for that, too.
Tauren - Druids (Cenarion Circle) and Shamans for both genders. I also like warriors for males and hunters for females.
Blood Elf - Paladins (Blood Knights), DK's, mages (Magister), and rogues (Outrunners) for both races. Warlocks for males, priests, and hunters (Farstriders/rangers) for females.
Goblin - Rogues and hunters for both genders. Priests for females, Shamans for males. The concept of a Goblin DK also amuses me.
Alliance
Human - Paladins (Silver Hand), DK's, and warriors for both genders. Rogues are also pretty sweet if you want to play a SI:7 operative.
Dwarf - Warriors, Paladins (Silver Hand), and Hunters for both genders. Shamans (Wildhammer Clan) are cool for the males, too.
Night Elf - Druids (Cenarion Circle) for males. Priests (Sister of Elune), Hunters (Sentinels), and Rogues (Shadow Wardens) for females.
Gnome - Warlocks and mages for both genders.
Draenai - Paladins (Vindicators) and Hunters for both genders. DK's look really cool for that demonic look, too.
Worgen - Warriors, Rogues, and Hunters for both genders.
