It might be decent, but it really shouldn't be done. There's no way in hell it'll live up to the original or enhance it in any way.

Well I'll say this, whoever writes this will officially have the biggest balls in all of geekdom for violating this sacred cow. Of course he won't have them for long because I'm sure the first chance he gets, Alan Moore will cut those balls off and mount them above his fireplace.

While I'm against this, its not like personal projects aren't expanded on all the time and its something fans want, so kudos DC for finally listening to them.

Prequel miniseries for each of the characters, basically.
Darwyn Cooke "running" the show, moreorless. Dave Gibbons and JG Jones mentioned, Andy Kubert all-but-confirmed by Bleeding Cool to be drawing one, and Straczynski rumored to be writing one.
It's not a sequel, but it's certainly gonna get some kind of sh*tstorm - despite well regarded talent like this being attached.
Gibbons' involvement moreorless makes it "ok" for me.. They'll never get Moore on board or being ok or whatever with it, but one of the original 2 (actually, 2 of the 3 - colorist John Higgins has been quasi-confirmed too) is enough for me.

They did it with "The End is Nigh" games, and those were pretty good. Depends on who they get really.

The writers are really gonna have to ignore criticism, because even if they're excellent, they're in no-win situtations perspective wise.

This is a PSYCHOTIC idea, purely because, as previously mentioned, it's a no-win scenario. They'll probably suck, and if they didn't, everybody would hate them anyway because they don't need to exist.

And low there did I recall the positive reaction DK2 got when it was announced...too bad it was so lame. I do not think this is a good idea. I don't care if they got Alex Ross to do the art and every name writer ever to hold a pen, this will be poorly received based soley on the "don't touch it' aura of the original. No matter how good it may turn out, they are starting behind the eight ball

Man Dark Knight 2 really really sucked didn't it? And that at least had the potential to be good having the exact creator and all.

Oh I know. But it was't quite as obvious back when that was first announced.

If its about the orignal group or the one that the Watchmen is about, but with focus on thier anti hippie/ Vietnam war fighting then I will go see it in a heart beat.
I want to see a full length anti-hippie movie with the comedian.

f*** this shit so hard. Watchmen is one of the greatest pieces of literature of the 20th century. Why mess with greatness? For a few dollars and some attention? What a load of garbage. The comic industry needs to realize that real value comes in making and establishing new characters, not rehashing and ruining stuff that's already been solidified.
