Hear me out on this but I honestly feel they are going to have Daniel Bryan go over clean via tap out.
It would steel reinforce DB as a legit dangerous opponent to make a guy who, as far as I remember, has never tapped out to submit clean in the middle of the ring.

I think it's very likely, I just don't see Sheamus winning in any way shape or form.

It would surprise me if Bryan retained his title at Mania but, if he does, it will more likely than not be by a technicality or by cheating because his current character is based on the fact that he shouldn't be champion but still retains his title through nefarious means.

Sheamus has spent so long in go-nowhere feuds with midcarders, that yeah, it's hard to say he has momentum.
Bryan, on the other hand? Here's a guy who just gets bigger by the day. His heat is incredible, he's still one of the finest technical wrestlers in the world (Dolph Ziggler is smoother and arguably on the verge of surpassing him, if he hasn't already), and he has a gimmick that still gives him so much room to explore.
WWE clearly really wants Sheamus to be the new Batista (in terms of being an over babyface monster who can carry a show), but this feud just isn't doing it.

I think WWE has backed themselves into a corner with this. On one hand, Daniel Bryan needs to retain at WM. But then again the Royal Rumble needs to regain its prestige. The Royal Rumble winner(Sheamus)desperately needs to win this year. The easy thing to do was just to let Jericho win the Rumble this year. Have him go over Punk at WM and let them feud over who is the best all the way into Summerslam. That way DB can go over Sheamus at WM by dq or double dq. So yeah they've really screwed themselves this year

and Savage, Piper, Dibiase, and Roberts were infinitely more interesting than him. Your kidding right? Hogan was the face of WWE for a reason.

The only reason I'm interested in this feud is because of Bryan & AJ. Sheamus could be one of the Bushwhackers and I wouldn't notice.

Sheamus needs to win this, or the Rumble will be a total joke. Truth be told a win after 5 years of failures still makes the Rumble look a joke. The Rumble itself is just a fun match to watch nowadays, which has the added benefit of being able to see who the company wants as a big star one day. People not winning at 'Mania isn't really something that pops into most fans minds as the company doesn't bring it up. The Rumble victor stat is already a joke, Sheamus winning the title really doesn't do anything to fix that, it'll just look like a directionless guy getting a title at the expense of a character who is getting over like Rover as a heel, and worthwhile upcoming heels are few and far between in the WWE.

It seems to me that they have long-term plans for Bryan without the title, and are planning accordingly. If he has no title, he can't retain underhandedly, so he'd need some other source of heat. And whaddya know, both the Veganity thing and AJ abuse fall into that perfectly. Thus, when Sheamus beats him at Mania, his heat will be unaffected, as by now it's based far more on the above then on the title. Bryan simply doesn't need this win.

Everything about the Sheamus push just seems contrived without a shred of being organic. The fans don't seem to care about him, he's a solid wrestler at best and he is being PUSHED upon me so my natural reaction is to push him away.
Daniel Bryan has SO much f***ing potential to do great things in the WWE its a joke, so I'm hoping he wins this. But the logic as stated in this topic suggests a ginger win. Shame.

For me, I'm still annoyed that Sheamus won the Royal Rumble. I was there, and I felt the general mood of the crowd go from "OMG IS JERICHO GOING TO WIN" when it was the final two to something like "OMG... Sheamus?" when it was over. I get they're pushing him mega with this feud, but he just feels to me like the face version of where Kane is at right now except he's winning.

Sheamus needs to win this, or the Rumble will be a total joke. It's a total joke whether Sheamus wins at Mania or not, he's not even main eventing the show. The rumble will be a joke until WWE treats it like it's a big deal, and has the winner main event on the grand stage. Sheamus winning at mania is not gonna add any kind of prestige to the rumble if he's having a match in the first half of the show. Period, the rumble won't be important until WWE stops relying on old stars to draw money for them.

Sheamus is just dis-interesting as a face. I just can't care about him. not the hugest Daniel Bryan fan, but honestly him having a longer title reign would be better. Bryan vs Orton could be good. I can't see wanting to see Sheamus vs anyone being very fresh or interesting.

It has absolutely been one of the most lackluster builds following a Rumble in recent memory for sure.
Hell Sheamus is one of my favorite guys, and this feud while ok has been merely that.
I'll concede part of that may be that it's like not even the fourth biggest attraction on the card.

Sheamus needs to win this, or the Rumble will be a total joke. The Royal Rumble became a joke last year when Alberto Del Rio curtain-jerked, then jobbed to a guy anyway who retired the next night.

I think Sheamus is a victim of just bad booking. They waited too long to get D-Bry's character together and now he'll just look stupid if he loses at WM. I was really excited when Sheamus won the Rumble and I still want him to win...but it's kind of a lose-lose situation. D-Bry winning clean would make him really credible but then it would be a waste of a Rumble win (just like ADR).

I was a big fan of Sheamus when he had his initial face turn and was feuding with Henry, but since then he hasn't done a whole lot for me.
