Okay after almost 4 years today is the day of a new Avatar episode. The first two episodes of Avatar: The Legend Of Korra airs. Though most of use have already seen them online.
I wonder how effective enemies are the Equelist? They use chi blocking, that gave our heros in the old series fits, but that was from someone that was an acrobat, and had unbelieveable agility. Do the Equelist have that.
This seires sounds like it is a new style from the original. In a way it is like Digimon. The original Digimon Adventure had a survivor find your way home enviroment, while the sequel series took place mostly in the real world, and they can go to the digital world as they please. And since than it kind of rotated. Here we have the original series that was about going around the world, while here our protagonist is going to stay in one place for the time being.
Anyway I am pumped out, I feel like Legend Of Korra is a redemption for the Nickelodeon Avatar brand after the Last Airbender disater.

I have seen the first two episodes.
You're really going to like them.

Thus far, it's interesting. The change in scenery was certainly jarring, but yeah, you an't have the world stay the same forever. I like how the music has changed from Asian orchestra to jazz for Korra's parts.
As for Korra herself, I'm not really sold on her yet, although that may be the point.

I like it. Feels almost like an Avatar / Fullmetal Alchemist fusion, and I do like that it's working hard to be its own distinct entity instead of more of the same.
Nice of them to go and run an ad spoiling what'll happen most likely during that championship game, though.

So far I like how they've taken great care to make Korra Aang's total opposite (but still likable, of course), as well as the use of some jazz in the score on occasion.

Plus it's a good sign that so far there really isn't anyone you can compare her to from the original cast, so she's more clearly her own character.

Really enjoyed the first two episodes. I like Korra herself and the random flashes of personality from the otherwise stoic Tenzin. Really interested to see how Amon works as a villain. Sounds like Steve Blum brought his Darcia voice out for him.
Tenzin's kids are cute, too. I usually don't like the archetypical little kid characters, but they amuse me.
I also just learned that Tenzin's voiced by JK Simmons (aka, J. Jonah Jameson from the Spidey movies). Awesome!

Curious what other interesting casting choices show up. Jameson and Bud Bundy within your first two episodes sets certain standards.

Watched the first two episodes and i like it, i enjoyed the little nods they gave to some of the original cast members. Seeing Kitara was nice but i thought she would have more than just a few lines. Im getting the sense that Tenzin is going to be a badass if/when he gets upset. Love his kids too. ......and the "What happened to Zukos mom" segment was hilarious and frustrating as hell!!!

Yeah, if they made Korra start off like Aang, knowing one bending style and having to spend seasons learning others, it would have been a complete rehash and certainly not as good. It was smart to separate her from the previous cast.
Still jarring that the entire world underwent an industrial revolution between shows. If there's a sequel series to this one, it's probably going to be our first Cyberpunk Avatar.

Given some of the technology that the Fire Nation had in the original series, I don't think it was that big a leap. It's been almost another century since the original series, after all.
First two episodes were pretty good. Can't wait for the third.

Replay's on in a half hour, if anyone missed it the first time or wants to re-watch it.

Besides, it's not like massive leaps in technological advancement in a relative short time are an uncommon thing in reality, either. Compare the world in 1900 to 1970, much less 2000, and it's a completely different planet.

I think the chief point with Katara was to say "this isn't the Gaang's story anymore, and here's one of them to pass the baton to the new generation". Still, one of the promotional things they have on the website for the show seems to indicate that Katara will show up from time to time. By the by, anybody else get a chill when the new theme song suddenly included Aang's fanfare when the "camera" zoomed on his statue? I'm very much anticipating seeing our ol' pal in spirit form. Also, big, stupid grin on my face when we see that Tenzin has his own skybison, not gonna lie.

Is it wrong that I'm mostly looking forward to adult Aang to see if, as his design indicates, he desires to kill and replace the Batman?

What I'm curious about is how many characters from the previous series will be shown/talked about or are even still alive.
We know for a fact that Katara is still alive and that at least Aang and Sokka are dead.
Personally, I'm guessing Toph is still alive and, like Bumi, will still kick tremendous amounts of ass in her old age.
.......I miss Iroh though.
