I remember the summer this came out, there was BatMANIA in the streets.
Like everybody was wearing Batman shirts/hats, the lines were around the block at theaters and this was weeks after it had been in theaters.

I don't think it has aged all that well, and the changes from the typical Batman mythos don't sit well with me.
Bruce Wayne being an awkward, reclusive loner The Wayne murders not being well known Batman straight up killing people (though it was even moreso in returns) Joker being the one to kill Batman's parents, and having a definitive origin
All and all I do like it, but for me it goes TDK, Begins, Batman 89, Forever, Returns, and Robin.

In retrospect, I'm not as fond of this movie as I used to be. It was a good movie, just not a really good Batman movie. Jack Nicholson was a great villain, but a lousy Joker.
It definitely shows that Tim Burton hadn't actually touched the comics when he made it.

The best Batman Best Batmobile Best soundtrack score Best atmosphere Best henchmen in Bob All around IMO still the best Batman movie of all time. This This This ESPECIALLY this!!!! Couldn't agree any more! IMO, Begins sucked, even worse than Batman and Robin, and I wonder why it gets the love it does.

I will definitely give it Bat-credit for having the best Bat-Atmosphere of the Bat-Films.
As far as Bat-villains go, Bat-Jack Nicholson's Bat-Joker is a completely different Bat-Animal than Heath Ledger's, so I don't worry about Bat-comparing them too much.
Besides, I think one of my favorite Bat-death scenes in all of the Bat-films is when the Joker joy-buzzers that Bat-gangster to death, even if the effects of him catching on fire haven't Bat-aged that well at all.
Still love the fried Bat-leftovers though.
Bat.

I was just the right age to get caught up in the hype fest for this movie when it came out, I loved the movie as a child and while it's aged in some ways (like all things do) I still love it, it shall forever hold a special place in my heart and be one of my favourite movies, this and Batman Returns along with the Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles movies and Ghostbusters 2 have so many nostalgic memories linked to them for me. Just the thought of these movies instantly takes me back to a very special time. The best Batman Best Batmobile Best soundtrack score Best atmosphere Best henchmen in Bob All around IMO still the best Batman movie of all time. I agree, especially on the Soundtrack, it's timeless. Danny Elfman did an amazing job, and I also like Prince's music. The Joker's parade scene is one of my all time favourites in any movie. While I enjoy the current take on Batman movies with Begins and Dark Knight, the Burton/Keaton era will always be MY Batman.

If I were to pick the scene that defines the difference of Nolans and Burtons movies it would be this one.
