They also don't recognize that Marty is Calvin Klein. You'd think they would remember the dude who was responsible for getting them together. That isn't something you would forget. You mean the guy who was in their lives for a week, 30 years prior? Not to mention that their child is not going to enter the world as a fully formed Marty McFly. They're seeing their child develop gradually over many years. At what point are they supposed to think, "Hm, our third child looks like that one guy who was in our lives for one week thirty years ago and of whom, we have no photographic evidence"? Why would that thought even occur to someone? "Clearly our child is a time-travelling teen who went to elaborate lengths in order to get us together".

I agree with the OP. Another is that George is successful as a science fiction writer and has apparently wrote and published a book based on his visit from "Darth Vader". How could he publish such a book with things obviously (by that point) taken from other popular science fiction sources? Did he go on TV claiming that George Lucas must have been visited by real space aliens too? Marty inspired him in 1955, so he wrote his books before Star Wars even existed, the name Darth Vader was hence already written down before George Lucas thought of it. I think anyway? I've got a thought in the back of my head saying that he had his books published right at the end of the film, though.

Really, a lot of these like "why didn't they just use gas from the other Delorean?" can be explained by "they didn't think of that". I mean, hindsight is 20/20 right?

Regarding the "why not just use the gas from the DeLorean in the mine?" question: Drain the fuel tank if you are going to store your car for more than six months. Once you have drained the tank, start the engine and run the rest of the gas out of the lines. Old gas will clog carburetors and cause valves to hang up. If you are only going to be storing your car for a few months you can add a can of gasoline stabilizer to delay fuel deterioration.

Again, he wasn't just "some guy in their lives for a week". He got them together. Additionally, he may have been George's only friend up to that point and Lorraine developed a huge crush on him. I'm almost 32 and I can still tell you the names and descriptions of my middle school crushes.

my issue has been that them restoring the timeline in 1955 basically told Biff way more info than they really needed to reveal.

One thing that never gets answered is how they are able to travel to the future and see their future selves. You pretty much don't exist from the time you left in the pass to the time you arrive in the future. Suspension of disbelief kind of doesn't work since Doc sends Einstein a minute into the future in the first film, and we how the dog wasn't present for that one minute.

One could argue the fact that they could see themselves in the future was proof positive that they'd eventually return to the present.

Because time isn't a straight line. Okay, Marty went 30 years into the future. But he arrived back moments after he left. So that period of time he was gone for never really happened. Yeah, Einstein skipped a minute but that was because it was exactly what Doc Brown programmed the time machine for. He could have easily programmed Einstein to come back the exact second he left. You're not thinking fourth dimensionally here. In short:

Yes, but the dog went on a one-way trip. The fact that there are future versions of themselves indicates that they made a two way trip back from the future. Hell, Marty was actually present in 1985 in two locations at once for a short period. Interesting note during that brief time of dual existence. You can actually view proof that Marty changed the past during his trip to the past. At the beginning of the movie the mall is called Twin Pines Mall, but when he goes back in time he actually runs over a pine tree. When he rushes back to save Doc Brown you can see that the mall is now called Lone Pine Mall.

When the car was struck by lightening at the end of part 2, it created a clone. ...For the sake of making a pretty cool video game, I'd let that slide.

Marty returns to the present at the end of the 1st movie just in time to see his own departure.
Except that its not the same Marty because its an altered present.

Why didn't they just give Mad Dog his $80? Thus saving them the trouble of fighting him and rushing to get the Delorean back to 1985? $80 was like $800 in 1885 Didn't Doc carry period era money around with him for all monetary possibilities?

Instead of focusing on sporting bets, Marty's original idea should have been to quietly observe which corporations were around and thriving in 2015, then return to 1985 and invest in them.

To quote Doc Brown, they weren't thinking 4th dimensionally.
In 1885 they just as easily could have pinned a note to the 1885 Delorian "PS. Marty will break the gas line, bring extra can of gas and replacement line."
"P.P.S 1955 Doc, don't dress Marty like a tool, you should know better."
