ECW at its best, in my opinion.

I think ECW died a couple months after its first PPV and consider everything from that point on a new ECW.. that being said this didnt disapoint.
I dont remember watching the original PPV but did they cut out a lot of Shane Douglas' commentary?

Was at this ppv, Shane did throw a tv after Taz won. So he defended the tv throwing championship Best tag match of the 90's in my opinion.

This was probably one of ECW's best PPVs. It was the only one I can remember where the matches actually built off the angles and storylines ECW was having at the time and weren't thrown together a week before the show by picking names out of a hat.

The 1st ECW ppv I ordered. Yeah, I think Shane threw a television monitor down after Taz beat Bam Bam Bigelow. I did recall hearing Raven saying that ECW went into a different era after the first ppv. Also that the more profitable/successful the company got, the worse it became.

one of my all time favorite shows for any promotion Same here. I used to own a copy of this on VHS but my VCR ate the damn tape last summer . EDIT: Shane Douglas did commentary on this show, but was quiet for a lot of it. Him throwing a monitor at Taz after Taz won wasn't entirely random, as he was in the booth the whole time yelling and cursing because Taz won.

Weren't the dvd versions for the old ECW events really pricy?

Weren't the dvd versions for the old ECW events really pricy? Are you talking about the Pioneer releases? Well, those are pretty hard to come by. I got lucky though. Some new/used record store location carried them and asked the PPV ones to be transferred to the nearest store and I bought them. They were $10 each. I don't have the compilation ones, non-PPV shows (Wrestlepalooza 1997 and Cyberslam 1999) or the Dudley Boyz/Cactus Jack DVDs... yet anyway.

The FMW/ECW Tag match would've been a lot better if they didn't focus on props and really just blew everyone away with ability. Great to see everyone in their primes, albeit bittersweet just to see Hayabusa walking at all.
And the ME was actually one of their best encounters, although it was like match 6 in a series of 11,448 matches with Sandman, Dreamer, Spike vs The Dudleys.

I'm watching the main event now and something dawned on me. If there were ever a wrestling equivalent to Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles it would have to be Sandman, Dreamer, and Spike Dudley.

The mind reels at thoughts of how Heyman would book The Green Bastard from Parts Unknown. As for the ppv, I would have to rate it the best ECW pay-per-view ever, and argue that the show deserves mention along with the 89 Bash or Mania 17 in any discussion of greatest ppv's period.

Yes, I'd agree it's amongst the greatest of all time. My question is, where do you all rank its predecessor: 'Wrestlepalooza '98?'
