During an apperance on the MMAWeekly Radio today, Kurt Angle discussed his role in the upcoming film "Warrior" and claimed he almost joined the UFC just a few months ago.
"I contacted (Dana White) again, I was thinking about dropping out of Impact Wrestling, and there were some personal problems with my marriage and I just wanted to get away and I contacted Dana White, I flew out, and he had me take the UFC physical. I passed it thank God, and he gave me the offer."
UFC President Dana White responded to the claim on Twitter stating, "Love Kurt, but not true."

Why would Kurt possibly make a claim like that? Does he honestly think everybody is a rube?

It's not "don't believe what you read."
It's "don't believe what Kurt Angle says."

Kurt is probably exaggerating again, but it is Dana White we are talking about.....
Can I not believe both?

No. Dana White knows good business. He wouldn't have considered signing Kurt Angle. Dana already made the mistake of signing a guy with no MMA experience (James Toney). Kurt is nuts.

Dana comes off like a bit of a douchebag, but the dude knows business. Kurt Angle in an MMA ring? that's not good business.

C'mon people Kurt's interview was obviously hacked, or maybe hijacked by a family member.

Does Kurt really thinks people aren't going to call him on his bullshit stories?
He's claimed before he was going to do MMA and never did. He's claiming now he's got an offer and turned it down....only for Dana to say he's lying. He's claimed he was going out for the '12 Olympics only to not show up for tryouts.
He says shit just to get publicity for himself and get his name in the news. If he ever went through with any of it and failed.....it would ruin his gimmick completely.
He can't do it.

I think it's way too early for Olympic tryouts.

Just like how he's going to be on the USA Olympic team...
I'm sure he did... in his head.

Reading the tweet posted, I read it wrong. It was following his training, not his tryout. Sorry.

I don't follow MMA very closely, and I understand most think this is B.S. due to Angle being too old to be a serious threat in MMA, but wouldn't his name hold enough drawing power to make him someone UFC could be interested in? As I said, I don't follow MMA very closely, but if Kurt Angle got involved, I'd be intrigued. I'm sure there are hundreds-of-thousands, if not millions, more in the same boat.

But James Toney had a name and people wanted to see him get his ass kicked. See its not if the fighter wins but does he sell tickets and PPV buys.

As I said, I don't follow MMA very closely, but if Kurt Angle got involved, I'd be intrigued. I'm sure there are hundreds-of-thousands, if not millions, more in the same boat. I could understand being interested for the name value, but people think it's BS because the guy who runs UFC said Kurt was full of it. So it's Kurt's word and Dana White's, and people think Dana White has more credibility when it comes to whether Kurt was nearly in UFC or not. And yeah, he'd get destroyed in UFC right now.
