Recently found my old Sega Genesis with NHL94 still in the system. Played the hell out of it today. So let's consider this thread a tribute to (in my opinion) the greatest sports video game of all time. Would love to know what my other FANs think of this game. Specifically the Sega Genesis version, but if you love the Super Nintendo version, by all means join the party!

Greatest hockey game ever next to the recently modded PC version of NHL 04 (seriously that mod is tremendous. Do yourself a favor and get it).
Besides as a Kings fan, the game reminds me of better days: Gretzky, Luc Robitaille, Jarri Kurri, Marty McSorley, Kelly Hrudey, a young non-douche Rob Blake, Tomas Sandstrom, Tony Granato, and so on. Sigh, I wish we had that team again.
Oh and how could I forget DAVE f***ING TAYLOR! He was so cool.

It didnt even have team names and logos. Thats what I remember most. Yes it did. All of the EA NHL games prior to I believe the 93 game were like this, but everything since has had the official license of the NHL and the NHLPA.

I remember not really liking the 92/93 game, thinking 94 was pretty cool, not really liking 95, and loving 96.
Civil War I'm with NHL 96.
All on the Genesis. When it comes to video games Sega was definitely the NWA/WCW, and I'm both 4 Life.

My brother played this game incessantly so he could always run circles around me, so I developed another skill to make up for my lack of scoring: the brutal check. Crushing him over the boards or my personal favorite: as he was crossing mid-ice with the puck, one of my defenders would level him just as the screen started to scroll down. Many was the time where I'd win the immoral victory of knocking his star player out of the game. It had such a great balance of lightning fast offense and devastating defense. Favorite sports game of all time.

NHL94 was the last great game from them, as after that it went downhill from there ..... and i played the damn programming off EA HOCKEY and NHLPA93 ..... and i use custom made NHLPA93 roms, with international teams (based on the stats for SENSIBLE SOCCER) and sim them ..... FOUR ROMS mind you, total of 120 teams!!! i've been simming them for the best part of seven months now, and nearly finished their season ..... i used to do that with EA HOCKEY (for the international teams) but late in the year 2010 i decided to create the replacement, a monster project that took months to complete ..... replacing EA HOCKEY that has been good to me for the best part of EIGHTTEEN YEARS!!! that's right, i did complete seasons of competitions with that, and did them in real time (august to february) and loved every single second of it! i didn't do a total conversion, but changed the teams and the banners those flags were very fun to do ;D and along with me doing my FIFA07 competitions too, i've been busy you can get tons of different roms at www.nhl94.com/ and loads of stuff about hacking and editing the game ..... you might even find that SNES NHL93 with ..... SIXTYFOUR TEAM PLACES!!!!!! anyone up to making a pc version of MHLPA93 ..... like the console versions ..... with *drools* UNLIMITED TEAMS!!!!!
