Punk still did something rarely done in the modern era by holding the belt that long. Great run. To wrestle the Rock like that has placed Punk in a high tier. He'll get his Austin dream match most likely next year.
I can't fathom how fans of Punk could be upset. He didn't get squashed.

All great things must end. CM Punk had a great title reign.

ahhh, disappointed. punk makes the title relevant again, and they take it off him first clip. poor. First clip? He had it longer than anyone in the modern age of wrestling. He'd have to hold it around 600 more days to pass anyone else. That's not exactly first clip, is it?

He left the belt better than he found it. That's the mark of a true champion.

He dominated a match, pinned a guy who had gone through a table and was KO'd for 5 minutes, and then lost to the same guy in 3 minutes after he woke up. That was pretty f***ing bad.

I'm known around here as someone who often tries to defend the aura internet fans are given, but it's these moments where I can see there's some truth to the "nothing ever pleases us" mentality.
The guy held the belt for 434 days and lost only to the second/third biggest name in wrestling history. Why is this a bad thing?

Honestly, I agree that the finish was dreadful and sucked all the excitement out of the match.
That said, Punk had a hell of a reign and he lost to the Rock of all people. I think he did fine.

Eh, at least they didn't vacate the title.
THAT would have been the worst travesty of all. There's nothing I hate more than an epic title reign that ends with no one getting a rub from it.

I wouldn't have minded Rock winning if we didn't have the clusterf*** in the end.

He left the belt better than he found it. That's the mark of a true champion. Very true. Wonderful run. I never really thought I'd get to see another year+ reign, and here we got two in six (?) years.

I don't understand why being bummed out on how it all ended is so heinous.
I thought it was a crappy way for a year plus title reign to end. Just because the guy I like got that long of a reign and I enjoyed it doesn't mean I can't not like that or how it ended.

It was very interesting run for punk. I did think thought he was losing some steam at the end of his run just using all the cheap heat imaginable. I didn't really care who won between punk or rock so the result of the match did not upset. There were no obvious young prospect who can be build up to beat punk and be made a star, so I guess the rock was the next big thing.

A guy that I'm a fan of was champion, and he lost to a guy I don't particularly care for. It's pure fandom right now. None of the extra-curricular stuff. I'm a Punk fan. Punk lost. I'm sad.

Some of the posts in here are why I stay away from the WWE Section most of the time any more.
If the Reds or the Bengals or whoever won 10 straight Superbowls and then lost the 11th one? I'm sad. I'm disappointed. I'm a FAN. I get so sick of eeeeeverything on this board being tied in to business. I'm not running WWE. I don't have to care about this stuff.

Never thought he would have a really long WWE title reign.
