Boil everything down and what I think I found really missing was the "mysticism" of the original trilogy.
I was quoting Star War in another thread by saying "strike me down and I will become more powerful than you could possibly imagine". I really can't think of anything as grand as that being said in the newer ones, and it kind of bums me out.
Everything is explained with science or at best random philosophy. I dunno, the best way I think I can describe it is that it seems like the people in the prequels don't believe in anything. It's like a Universe of Han Solos, heh.

Want something to really twist your noodle?
Did you ever notice that the prequels are entirely centered around the privileged members of the Old Republic?
Think about that, then think about who the chief critics of the Empire are in the originals.

I'd take an army of Jar-Jars over the "brilliant" concept of midichlorians.

I missed C3-P0's massive boner Dude, everyone misses C3-P0's massive boner. Lucas should edit that into the prequels the next time he releases the Star Wars movies.

Ah, screw it. I want sure whether to stay a new thread or not, but I'll just post the following lino here. FAN, I present to you the only reason to ever watch the Prequels outside of contextualizing the Plinkett reviews and Rifftrax: Star Wars in Machete Order.

I actually thank George Lucas. His films caused me to get my Midichlorian count checked by my doctor and I found out it was too low.

I think it's somewhat reflective of the times each trilogy were made in. In the time since the OT was made, there's been a considerable shift in culture and media toward cynicism and belief in science over faith and mysticism.

The way Yoda speaks of the Force in the prequels compared to how he does in Empire makes me think he must have had quite an epiphany while on Dagoba.

Living in a swamp alone for 20 years will do that.

Everything is better before you saw it happen. The prequel trilogy basically spelled everything out fr you. It even explained the force in a much more retarded way.

It's kinda like Lucas gave up on religion and got all sciency. And it pretty much sucked!
